I just came across your channel, and found it very interesting and one of a kind so far. I have been checking out similar channels for about 2 months now, the first one was a hip hop guy hearing pink floyd for the first time, it was from dark side of the moon, since then it was like a domino effect, I found myself going to all the other channels and found several were hearing pink floyd for the first time, and truly enjoyed watching and hearing the reactions. I am a 59 year old white guy who was 13 in 1973 when Dark side of the moon was released, that was the first time I heard of pink floyd and was stoned from weed at time but made note I am buying that album I still have the original vinyl. By age 14 I was working in a record store/head shop, who's owner was a vietnam vet and we carried all of pink floyds stuff so I was buying all of them, this one never made it to my collection oddly enough I didn't really didn't care for it much. First of as I said checked out a lot of reactors to pink floyd and they all seemed to be reacting to the same songs, all Dark side of the moon and later and just singles again this were I find you to be unique, and appreciate what your doing and how. I don't want to write a book here, but I do have some other comments and suggestions which I will leave elsewhere.

428chase Hey man I’m really glad you’re enjoying the concept of what I’m trying to do, I love Floyd but I never gave attention to the earlier stuff and a couple of albums, and I’ve always wanted to go through all the albums in order, and I was personally watching Reaction videos from hip hop guys like you did for a couple months haha. And noticed the same thing you did! The stuff I have already heard we’ll call it a review, but there is a lot I have not heard. 50% of the reason we click on these is to give us a reason to listen to the tracks again, and the culture you can build around videos like these are amazing, I’ve met so many people already who appreciate these songs as you seem to, welcome to the channel man, cheers! 🔥😁

@@andyandalex Thanks for the speedy response, I am glad I had the day off cause I just spent about 3 hours on your channel, I have subscribed to about 15 or so reactors and you're maybe the 3rd or 4th that has replied back. Now I know you and others will get a lot of comments and request and can't get to them all but to at least acknowledge you seen my comment or request, if not a reply at least a thumbs up or down something. The first guy I mentioned when I first subed he had like 3k subs and only a couple months later he got 90k not one ioda and I gave him a good review and many suggestions. they all say the same thing comment below what you think or to give suggestions. One guy I even donated to his patreon only 5$ but monthly and only reply I got back was Thanks so I pulled my donation before the second month came up. so again thanks. I have noticed too, on the other channels they seem to indicate some of or most of the songs they play are the ones they get a lot of request for. so no surprise they may never get around to my suggestions request and again everybody is reacting to the same stuff. like Bohemian rhapsody just get a little disappointed, I go to the last review and make my comment and when I go back it' still on top of the page, it's not like they had to scroll down to see it but still nothing.

If the channel grows a bunch I’m sure I won’t be able to hit every comment, but for now and for quite a while I try to look at them and give a thoughtful response as you guys do for me, it’s much appreciated! Maybe later on I’ll do a Patreon where I’ll have like a private discord server or something where I can communicate with you guys directly or something, not quite sure yet, bottom line is I love interacting with you guys, we all have the common love for great jams, many people in my age range don’t understand the amazing sounds of the 70’s! Cheers man! 😁🔥🔥

Yeah, I know what you mean. There's a trend going round of people reacting to PF, single tracks, and mostly DSTM and after. I really appreciate someone getting into their earlier stuff. No one gets brilliant without making lots of mistakes, and PF certainly pushed the boundaries did some brilliant stuff, and some awful stuff. You have to hear it all to get a sense of PF evolving. That said, I quite like psychedelic breakfast. V amusing. Especially the words. Try Ummaguma, which PF say it was a mistake they won't do again. Some quite nice tracks in it though. "Several species of small furry animals gathered together in cave and groving with a pict" kzread.info/dash/bejne/e3eWxLKMiLinnbw.html. That's be a nice reaction vid. WTF!!! It reminds me of another band from that era, who had the misfortune of producing their first album in 1968, so it got lost amongst the other other greats in that year. Listening to it now it's really quite superb but not many people know it. "Music In A Doll's House by Family" kzread.info/dash/bejne/lY6iubBphrvOlag.html . You get a sense of what else was going on in England at the time Pink Floyd were finding their feet. First among equals.

Rumor has it the track was originally offered to Syd Barrett, because Syd was still showing up randomly in the studio in between solo album sessions, and quietly observing the band, supposedly waiting to record with them. Of course, he said “no” for this, though. So it was then offered to Pink Floyd roadie Alan Styles, and the rest is history. I don’t really consider this to be an actual psychedelic track. it’s technically progressive rock, with some psychedelic flavor to it. There’s not much in common with their earlier trippy psychedelic sound. I’m sure from reading the title, you were expecting a heavy freak out.The ASMR effect is kinda trippy, though. Maybe listening to this on psychedelics would change my mind.

psychedelicpiper Thank you so much for all that backstory, love hearing about how it all went down. And I’ve had a couple interesting experiences that lead me to the conclusion that it’s rather psychedelic if you listen to it a certain way. I know what you mean though. Have a good one!

+AndyReacts So have I, it’s just I’m deep into the psychedelic rock of the 60’s and early 70’s, and kinda anal about genres. To be fair, I’d classify this as both a psychedelic and a progressive rock track. Which is pretty much what the whole album’s like. It’s a bridge. So is “Meddle”, but more heavily on the progressive side. That being said, I love “Meddle” the most out of the post-Syd albums. It will blow your mind. It’s every bit as good as their classic albums, except for the short song “Seamus” maybe, which was done for a laugh. You might end up ranking “Echoes” as your number one Floyd song.

@@psychedelicpiper999 Yea I completely agree with you about the genre. The title of the song is rather misleading and whether this gives you a "psychedelic" experience or not, it's not really from the psychedelic genre. Not sure if the guy that made this video has heard Set the Controls to the Heart of the Sun or some of the more psychedelic tracks from Piper.

Over the 48 years I have been listening to this cut, I have always assumed it's about Alan (Styles-roadie) coming in to make his breakfast and having flashbacks. Each musical interlude metaphor for flashback) is sparked by some action...striking the match to light the fire for the kettle, the crackling of the Rice Krispies, etc. It's a very trippy song.

  • @danielolson4286

One of the most underrated songs in their entire catalogue. The band hates it, the critics hate it, a lot of fans hate it. I love it. Does it have a point? I think so. Our everyday, humdrum life and all the tedious activities that go with it (getting up, brushing teeth, having breakfast, planning the mundane stuff you need to do that day) are in fact full of wonder, magic, and miracles, if we only had the eyes to see it. Just to exist is a wonder. The song makes you sit and actually listen to the most unimportant events imaginable. PF roadie Alan starts his day, and it'll fascinate you if you only let it. Around our house, "marmalade, I like marmalade" has long been a catch-phrase. The song says, "There is no excuse for being bored, ever. Just the fact of existing is a gift, a free ticket to a non-stop parade of marvels.

Roadie "Alan Styles" is the ALAN referred to in the title. I would suspect he comes into the kitchen (faucet apparently dripping all night cooks and eats his breakfast puts the dishes in the washes then the water drains out the faucet can still be heard dripping (I guess the washer needs replacing). Then he goes out the door (presumably to work) If you listen close, you can hear his car leaving in the distance near the end as the last few drips are heard. I at first thought it was referring to "Alan Parsons" who engineered this album.

The earlier versions of Pink Floyd. A lot of it had to do with just recording any type of sound. It could be birds chirping dripping water a train going by what it sound like a boss stop busy City Street car smoking their tires. Then they took the sounds along with their instruments and created really beautiful music ahead of its time. Then starting towards the beginning of the 70s a lot of the albums they put out we're all concept albums. The way they wrote them the whole album was telling some sort of narrative or a story or multiple stories! The wall is probably the greatest compilation album ever written. You could listen to the album over and over and over again and watch the movie. It seems though each time you watch it.Then another layer gets peeled back that you didn't know was there. Pink Floyd's the kind of music that will span the test of time. It's like music that was made that's Frozen in Time. It will always have an appeal to the human psyche. I.M.O.

Sorry I'm about 2 years late with this review. Listening to this song again it's completely different to the original album. This is so crisp it must be a digitally enhanced version. I was there ! in 1970, Manchester Fee Trade Hall. One of the few places they played this before dropping it from their set list. It was 3 musical interludes interspersed with the band members making Breakfast on stage. I found the music boring! yes very boring until I heard this version. The group brought their Quadrophonic Sound System with them. The Highlight was poring the milk onto their Rice Krispies with half a dozen microphones around it. The result was a cacophony of sound and explosions from the snap, crackle & pop of the rice Krispies racing around the Auditorium. They also Fried Egg & Bacon on a portable stove and ohhh that beautiful smell! I had gone to the concert straight from work and was absolutely famished! I went with a work collegue and my wife who met us outside the Theatre. She is not a pink floyd fan but makes a good witness to what happened that night. Glen Povey an autobiographer of the group and fanzine editor always stated that Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast was only performed once and that was in London. Not true Glen, my wife can confirm it was played in Manchester as well!

Back in the day, speaking of music, it was a different area. Before the Pink Floyd, the music in the 60s was based on Rock'n'roll music. In England, they had in the late 60s a different approach, a new concept of the music and art in general. They practiced some "happening" events, which is a performance or situation art, usually random and really weird performance art. Pink Floyd tried to invent something new for this album. That was also when the "Sex&Love" revolution for all ages was a thing. Sex was not taboo anymore and even recommended to everyone, but also the massive usage of drugs, due to the hippie culture. Almost all hippies liked to be naked, even kids and teenagers, but also the elders; and that was a normal thing and not shocking at all. People were naked in movies, in magazines, even on street ads, etc. Sometimes, couples making love in the grass, in front of everyone during concerts, like Woodstock for example. So, yeah ... mentalities were completely different back in the day! It was all about erotism, sex, drugs, and music all the time, but also all about psychedelic music and especially Pink Floyd.

Generally speaking, I guess if there is any general terms for psychedelics. Psychedelic breakfast would be after you raged all night and sun's coming up & you're having such a good time with everybody . So some people get the idea of dropping another 10 strip! Or maybe Munchen another eighth of mushrooms. There's quite a few of those scenarios that you couldn't get into there. I think you get the gist of it. There used be a three-piece jam-band maybe 4 and they will called psychedelic breakfast. A grate jam band, pressure's from the Rave Act(Gov b.s.) which basically says if you're a band or A manager or providing a place for bands to play. knowing they're doing psychedelics you can fall underneath the Rave act and be indicted. So they drop the word psychedelic to calling themselves the breakfast.

I read in Pink Floyd: A Visual Documentary by Miles, that Gilmour wasn't entirely satisfied with the version of APB. According to Gilmour, it was thrown together: "APB never achieved what it was meant to. It was meant to be how it SHOULD HAVE BEEN. It was a bit of a throw together. In fact it was the most throw together thing we've ever done." The general consensus in the band was that it was rushed together and so it wasn't executed properly. Perfectionists are never satisfied, I guess.

all of this leads up to The Wall album....every little experimentation on every early Floyd album gets used in their final masterpieces...how can you not like that?
