Good thing I only fell for this trap one year and it was when it was free after high school after a while I took a look around and I said you know what I don't want this because this holds no value to me because I need to see the goal what is the big thing that I'm doing here meanwhile I had a job and the job was more rewarding than the school in the job I learned to socialize that's a skill set I learned how to time manage and emotions you know of the customers and stuff and how to read people in a certain way I learned that Hands-On and that was just the fast food job and it paid me it was a job that pays you best college you're putting in money investing and you're going to have your fingers crossed that eventually it will become something I'm sorry but that's not something I want in my life unless I was in the position where I want to be a doctor or a lawyer or something that really requires such a degree you know like one of those prestigious jobs but other than that Define a school where they just have Hands-On training a vocational school you know or just go get a job and they train you

I didnt go to college. Didnt fall for it. Now i get paid more than everyone i know. They did what they're told, that's their problem unfortunately. In the age of technology, we have full access to outside knowledge. That being said college is a good booster for when you're financially able to shoot for it.

I watched a fascinating lecture about how they setup a training program in WWI to train people to be ready to produce in weeks (rather than years) because they needed high quality mass production asap. They got the best trainers in the country to setup training programs at the factories. People can learn great skills very fast if we invest in that kind of education.

Things need to change in our society where a self educated person has the same consideration as a person with a degree from a college for a job. If a self educated person can do the same job as well or better than one with a degree who cares? A piece of of paper, that can be acquired with Ds by the way, shouldn't be the deciding factor on who gets "the job". Colleges should not be allowed to make any non essential classes required. If it doesn't pertain to the field your headed towards then you shouldn't have to pay for it or take it. Our education system is very inefficient and designed more for making money.

Absolutely ridiculous, professors have practiced, they have applied knowledge accumulated over years into their field of study, and have retained it, which is why they are able to "profess". If you're going to say college is a scam for financial reasons, then ok I understand, but don't disrespect your professors; they're not the ones living off a student's overpriced tuition. And what makes the professor any different from these 'mentors' or people on KZread, other than the fact they have most likely spent their lifetime studying the thing that they teach you.

Even then you can still go to school for cheap or even free. Student workers get discounts and there are state grants and scholarships offered through most programs that make it affordable. You can even use the library’s online resources to supplement the materials required for class. I think this is fueled by someone that heard that their taxes are going to be used to pay someone’s tuition…

Nah. Based on my experience it’s really is “profess” without any real base on the world. My accounting teacher has been out of the field for 10 years and she is really only “professing” now and her methods are severely outdated and unpractical. All my teachers in finance teach from these stupid introductory American textbook where almost nothing is the same as the real world

I got a bachelors degree and a masters degree in business and use probably 2% of what I’ve learned. College is a complete scale everything I’ve learned I’ve learned on my own through studying books at the library and education videos. I could’ve done this without being $200,000 in debt. Which I have zero intentions of paying they can kiss my ass. It’s been over 30 years and I have not paid one cent of my student loans.

Highly disagree. It's 100% not a scam. Once people get a degree in whatever they choose, it's up to them to go out and find a job in their field. That takes time. There's also tons of jobs one can get with art degrees besides just teaching about it. The main problem is, PEOPLE ARE LAZY. They want jobs that make a lot of money instantly handed to them, as soon as they get their degree. They don't want to hear that they actually have to work themselves to find a job, and then work from the bottom up. All that takes time. Almost all my friends who got a degree, are doing something else non related to their college major. They hardly tried to land a job in their field, gave up, and went on to something else. People also like to jump on the social media bandwagon regurgitating the same lines like, college is a scam because it sounds good.

You are going to need skills to be a doctor or engineer ,you have to take so many college math courses to be an engineer ,you have to start with college algebra, trigonometry, pre calculus and then calculus as well as physics because physics and math have to rely on engineering to depending on what major I have to take physics for building roads to become a civil engineer to know how to get the estimate of what you are trying to draw or build ,doctorates as well but I don’t know the classes you have to take on those but that is also requirements for actual skill
