@Don’t worry About it doesn't have to be defenseless. Defender tried to wrap him up and the runner thought they were going heads up which made him unintentionally stick his helmet into the defenders body. It is a dumb rule on both sides because unfortunately it's gonna happen no matter what

@@scoota9074 idk about soft.... I had to quit due to concussions lol, that was in highschool. We still hit hard as hell, but the speed of everyone makes impacts just that much worse for the brain. I've had 5 concussions. Not playing anymore, I enjoy it yes, but man I feel every hit.

I totally love college football hard hitting that's part of football and that's is straight facts 💯

I hate the targeting calls. It could ruin football. I want these rule makers to run full speed at a college football athlete that is also running full speed at them and I want to see them try to tackle without leaning your body weight forward. It’s how you maximize throwing your weight into the tackle, which naturally has your head out in front. The opposition will also be leaning their body in. That’s why they were helmets. Some of those calls are ridiculous. Few are justified.

Few are justified how high are you? 95% of the calls were people launching toward the head/neck area. You know what else would ruin football? Everyone head hunting and breaking necks and concussions everywhere and then nobody good is playing because everyone is too stupid to not lead with their head it’s really not that difficult my guy. You act like it’s brain surgery at high speed, you literally just don’t lead with your head and don’t launch at the opponent and surprise no penalty

If the tacklers face mask is up and its not the crown of the helmet then it should be legal

I played defense. When you locate the runner and you start going low to hit the form tackle zone you are committed. If the runner drops his head or body that should not be targeting. That was clearly the case on a lot of these. Quarterbacks are the world's worst. You are already crouching to tackle and the cowardly quarterback gives himself up at the hit. They will call it every time and the QB knows it. New rule should be QB can't run or he can run but if he does and passes the line of scrimmage he is now a running back and can not give himself up.

Personal foul, somebody hit someone on the football field, and we can't have that. Noone has a clue what the rule is or when it'll apply anyway, so that team might as well forfeit the game. Pretty soon it'll just be illegal to tackle someone.

You did your job so why act like you're surprised that you did your job!!?? Especially when they make a big hit and the guy he hit still made the catch. Ok so if the intent is to eliminate hard tackles then either make a move to college flag football or eliminate running...make all the players walk, no running by any player, tackling at 2 mph will be gentler on them porcelain players

Yes, we have seatbelts and airbags so we should intentionally crash our cars. Cops wear bullet proof vests so they should stand in the line of fire. Firefighters wear protective gear so they should just sit in the fire.

I want the players to be safe, and hits to the head need to go, but some of these targeting calls are just incorrect. And the "Defenseless Receiver" plays aren't exactly fair. By that logic if the ball is thrown near a receiver and he has a reasonable chance to catch it, you just have to let him.

Anyone else feel like obvious targeting calls/ hits shouldn't be highlighted. Like I mean there are a bunch where the defender led with the shoulder (doing the right thing) that deserve to be on here (Nick Boltons hit against Arkansas for example was perfectly legal) but hits intentionally leading with the helmet shouldn't be celebrated.

I thought any targeting was forceable contact with the crown of the helmet to a defenseless player?!? No matter if it's to the head or neck area or not. Correct me if i'm wrong, please.

The John metchie hit was by far the best hit of the season.

Pretty much any big hit gets flagged. Or what used to be called tackling.

Football has lost the tradition of fundamental tackling. Most of these targeting calls, are because the lack of fundamental tackling. Players are leading with head and shoulders. No wrapping, no driving with the legs and no head up.

They really called targeting?!? ON THE BALL CARRIER!?!? Targeting has ruined the sport.
