My son found out he got into MIT when we were driving to my parents. I almost crashed because I couldn’t see through the happy tears! We will NEVER forget that moment! His little brothers were so proud too!

Thank you so much!! 💖 and yes the disclaimer was so important for me to include because while anxiously waiting results I realized whatever the turnout of the application season, it was moreso a reflection of the institution's decision to include me in their class and by no means a reflection of my self worth, gifts, or talents. (something I hope we all remember when we pour our hearts out into applications)

@@hitarahjane Hi Dear. Yes, you are definitely a role model for so many! Especially for us that are Black, African, Caribbean, etc... We know how life is challenging for us already. So, to be as successful as you and others that have done well academically is truly amazing. Our son is in the 9th grade. He is a high honor student (Valedictorian last yr, and currently ranked highest.) He is a high achiever and likes to learn. Math and science are his forte. I am looking into a math tutor for him to learn Calculus before he takes it. He goes to a math program for students of color during the summer. I'm also going to get him an English tutor since that is his weakest area (gaining inference, making connections from text.) He still gets A's in English, but can always improve. If you have any advice, I'd love to hear it if you don't mind. Thank you! Also: are you Haitian? If so, there's a big Haitian community close by. Could recommend restaurants lol!

Good Afternoon Ms. B, I'm not really familiar with MA. So, I haven't really gotten the chance to explore the Somerville area, therefore I wouldn't be able to recommend any restaurants as of yet. And thank you again for all your sweet words! First, your son needs to be applauded for all his hard work. Tell him to keep going because in the end it will all pay off! And in terms of recommendations I didn't use any outside services in terms of preparation. Besides, what my teachers taught me in school, I mostly self-studied. The only thing I could do is recommend a few books that I have used. I would also appreciate if you could to let me know if you only need a tutor for math or for both math and english. Hiya! Just want to preface by saying I am by no means an admissions officer so please take what I say with a grain of salt. Most colleges, including Harvard, take a holistic view of your file. So they look at your grades from 9-12th grade. Just make sure you are within the range of normally admitted students and don't worry too much about the 89, as long as you show an upward trend. hope that helps! and good luck with your studies! 💖

It seems that people that get into ivies don't get into Stanford. And people that get rejected to all the ivies get into Stanford🤔. Just a trend I noticed.
