Being a professional in the industry and having dropped out of collage for a job opportunity - when people ask me I just tell them that perspective is the more important thing to learn, then learn what you need to be successful. but don't go into a cert, or a course with no perspective and think you are going to be an expert. Well said Jeremy

As a networking pro I make more than many that went and obtained the PhD. I was doing computers by the time I was 15 and networking (dial up slip) and IPX/SPX by the time I was 19. So I didn't do the traditional college education route.

I wouldn't choose College to begin with. The cost of College and how they have inflated the price over the years puts me at a massive disadvantage to doing what I have done in educating myself. My wife has a Master's Degree and makes half of what I make. I have no college degree.

Currently going back for cloud computing bachelors. I’ll finish in Nov. Technical concepts were already known, but the depth of project management covered is helping.
