My 3 year old son had been diagnosed with an aggressive brain stem tumor, medulloblastoma, in 1993. He and his two-year old sister LOVED this song, jumping on the bed and yelling out the chorus "Wooohhh" as I played it over and over in late 1993 and early 1994. He passed in February, 1994 but I'll never forget this song as it made him imminently happy in his last days!!

As a teenager back then I remember coming home from goofing off and finding my Dad at his stereo with my Collective Soul tape in it looking for this song. They played a concert in Savannah, GA in the early 2000's. It was outdoors down by the river. A storm rolled in shortly after they took the stage and it started raining and lightning pretty bad. And this storm was no joke. Half the crowd left for cover because it was intense. Huge rain drops just pouring down. Lightning not too far away lighting up the sky. They all kind of gathered at the back of the stage for a minute, then came running back out. The singer said something about how they were making them call off the concert due to the weather, but they weren't going to leave until they played the song we all came to hear. Then they rocked this song out while getting soaked. Nobody would have blamed them for leaving when they were told to, but they hung in there for us and I'll always remember that.

My band played with Collective Soul back in 2012. It was just us and them on the bill, and they were absolutely cool to us, inviting us into the Green Room, and they watched us play during our set. The place was not huge, about 2500 people, but it was probably one of the best nights ever. It's nice when a headliner doesn't act like a headliner.

I’m glad that they’re preserving this epic band’s legacy. Today they don’t make music like they used to. The music of the past decades 90s, 2000s, have more profound songs. Music was artwork. The songs of past decades had lyrics that touched the deepest corners of your soul. Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Collective Soul, Nine Inch Nails, Linkin Park, Smashing Pumpkins, Stone Temple Pilot. In my case, it’s quite the opposite. You should listen to Linkin Park if you’re a fan of HARD, ALETERNATIVE, and electronic rock. Or if you like AJR, you might like their last album, one more light. Well, last OFFICIAL song. The others are remixes and 20th anniversary additions which there’s 2 so far.

One of the best guitar solos out there. Not to mention, one of the best guitar songs.

My granddaughter is just a couple months away from her 2nd Birthday. She and my soon to be 27 year old son are extremely ill running 104.5 fevers and my daughter in law is running herself ragged trying to take care of everything. @@SunBunz Sounds like he was a truly special man. It actually reminds me of the story of my maternal grandmother, a severe alcoholic who constantly neglected my mother and her two siblings. It's a very long story, and I don't know all the details, but I do know that her Christmas/birthday present (my aunt was actually born on Christmas day, believe it or not!) to them on, what I believe was my mom's 17th year of life, was to go to rehab. She hasn't have a drop of alcohol since that day and is now slowly approaching her last days from congestive heart failure. She probably has no more than a few years left, sadly. Still, she's had a long and fulfilling life of about 75 years, so I can't complain. I'm going to miss her so much.

The bass line is a killer... always loved it... Miss the 90's...

This was the first music (CD) I ever bought for my son. Gave it to him as a gift when dropping him off at Summer band camp at LamarU in Beaumont, TX. He was 12. He followed my genre for a long time. Fast forward 20+ years and roles reversed. The last group he lit me up with was The National. He died at 37 in 2018.... still crushed.

We just saw them last night with our 26 year old son. One of my memories....my wife was a nurse (retired now) and it was a Saturday or Sunday so I'm home with our infant son while she's at work. I'm holding him dancing in our living room to their song "The World I Know". Got a little teary when they played it last night...misting a little now as I type this. Good memory.

I was lucky to have enjoyed the best music since the sixtys up to the ninetys. Unfortunetely afterwards music failed miserably with no depth, no good lyrics and no emotion. So sad for us older people. At least we had the opportunity to experience the best music and have the best musicians of all times.

Not the best, but at least a portion of it wasn't total trash till the transition to the the 2000s.

My dad would pick my up sometimes on weekends. We would go to his friends house put in the country and they would chill in the garage and drink. I was allowed to drive around unsupervised on the 4wheelers. I would come into the garage for pops and this song would be on. ❤️

Im 41 years old and this song still sounds COOL like the first time!!! Hellyeahhhh!!!

My dad and I would go cruising back roads in a small town in northern Kentucky, and drink some beer when this song came on we would JAM out. Dad passed away and I played it at his funeral. Love this song!!!

+Eli Gallet ok thats totally not fair to say. theres still a lot of awesome stuff around today. mumford and sons, of monsters and men, florence and the machine, among others are pretty solid albeit softer alt-rock groups. plus the good oldies are still around. blink 182, fall out boy. rhcp, and weezer are still alive and kicking.

I feel this song has one of most underrated guitar solos. The whole song is relatively simple and the solo just goes ham.

Just listen to what I had to in the 70's. Sprit in the Sky. It was cool at camp also way back them. Amen 🙏. I'm 60 now and I'm still a heavy Rocker lol. I pull up to Stop Lights and Stop Signs with loud music like God Smack, Tool and many others that I like and it's funny when the young ones look at me and do a double take like WTF lol. It makes me laugh. When Rock and Roll is in your soul. You have to play it loud and proud lol. No matter what age you are. Keep on Rockin y'all. We still live in the best Country ever. Love and care for one another. Also learn how to forgive. If you can't forgive how can God forgive you. Don't be hateful because it's better to get hugs and kisses insted of bruises and stitches. I heard Slayer for the first time at church camp in 1987 as an example of "devil's music" to avoid. They took us to a mall to hang out a couple days later and I went straight to the record store and bought the Reign in Blood album on cassette and rocked it on my Walkman the rest of the time I was there. 👹

My dad died unexpectedly from a short battle with cancer, I didn't get to see him or say goodbye and it feels like my heart was torn in half. I've been listening to music and this song is so comforting. RIP to my dad I love you ❤️

All these guys were the voices of a generation and in the 90s they were the sounds of a decade. Gin Blossoms, Match Box 20, Candle Box, Bush, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Goo Goo Dolls All of those bands had that distinctive 90's ingredients to their productions. Listening to them now puts me in another place and time, in some cases with some that are no longer with us. There will never be another decade that sounds like the 90's.

I am 33 years old and I have known this song since I was 7. That is literally pretty much my whole life. As I started to hit towards my adolescence in the late 1990s I can remember buying this album at a place called music warehouse. I was in middle school and I had a portable cd player and a swing set in my backyard. Sometimes, I would listen to this song on repeat using both those things for HOURS on end. Fun times!

It was 1995 and I had just arrived in the US, didn’t know a word of English but I loved their music even if I didn’t understand the words. A few years later, I learned the language and were able to understand the lyrics. Since then, Collective Soul is one of my all time favorite bands!. Great music!

Nostalgia is a tricky thing. It usually has more to do with your youth than the actual decade or two that you pine for. Think about people in their 70s and 80s now. They were in their 40s and 50s in the 90s, but I guarantee they do not have as much nostalgia for the 90s as us people who were in our teens and 20s in the 90s. Their nostalgia is usually for the time and music of the 60s and 70s. Likewise, people 10 years younger than me love the music and times of the early 2000s... they pine for the nu metal years of limp bizkit, Hoobastank, and Godsmack.

No one will ever match the vibes of that “yeah”. Iconic moment of the 90s

That was him singing through a toilet paper roll into the mic. Ed Roland recorded the whole song himself (wrote, sang, played the instruments, engineered it) after hours in the studio where he worked. He spliced together leftover tape from other recording sessions to record it on.

RubyW00 we had an upstairs neighbor who played this constantly for a month when it first came out. Me and my wife really grew sick of it. I’ve since made my peace with the song and enjoy it and Collective Soul. Especially their “Dosage” album.

90s!!! 😭 This one never get old for me. So many interesting parts of the perfect whole that still seem fresh and keep me intently attuned every time. However, The 80s Tainted Love....oof! It made me cringe in the 80s, and flashback cringe during the All 80s All Day craze of the upper 90s. Played every hour. Ok, maybe not, but every 2 or 3, at least. Then I stumbled upon the original 60s version, and realized how brilliantly Soft Cell rearranged and reimagined that song as New Wave synthpop. I love it now. I shouldn't have revisited the video, tho. It gave me the creeps! :))
