I started stacking what I liked and I ended up with a collection….
I've been a stacker for decades, but now I am more into collecting. Collecting is more fun, but not nearly as efficient for wealth preservation.

You're right! It takes discipline to spend your monthly silver budget on the stack. I'm always looking for new perth mint pieces and I lose track of my silver savings. Thanks for stopping by again WMW!

That's true! For me it's important to have a solid liquid stack. My collection is liquid as well but I won't get all my premium back if I ever had to sell it. And I want to hand my collection down to family in the future as well. That's why it's important for me to get a hold of several tubes of low premium buffaloes. I have no problem selling those to protect my more important pieces. Thanks for watching!
I do both collecting and stacking. Whenever i feel like it I buy whatever deal I can get given whatever extra cash I have at the time.

@@jimlewis5477 there's no wrong way to do it! As long as you're happy. Most people don't own even half an ounce. Thanks for watching!
I started about 2 years ago. Wish I had started younger. I love the generic silver rounds, they have such a variety of images on them and are closest to spot cost.

That's a great taste to have! Enjoying the low premium stuff will definitely get you the most weight in the long run. Unfortunately for me I have a brutal addiction to perth mint 😂
I'm 28. Started stacking this year, I have 411 oz of silver. I've literally taken all my savings and transferred it into precious metals. My silver stack consists of two separate stacks. One that is all generic silver. Buffaloes, bars and rounds.. 308 oz that I'll possibly trade for fiat/gold when the silver to gold ratio gets lower. My second stack is my gold 1.6 Oz and collectible/sovereign/low mintage silver. 103 oz and 2 grams of platinum.. this stack I'll never sale, it's getting passed down to my family when I pass. It's always helped me separate the two. And both stacks are steadily growing (:

@SavunnieSilver47 that's an amazing story! Thats a stack to truly be proud of! I have a few pieces of my collection I actually don't want anymore. It was my second purchase ever and I've decided against keeping it. Goals change after awhile. It consists of about 12 ounces and once to ratio closes closer to 60 to 1 I will use it as a payment towards my first gold ounce! I can't wait for that. Thanks for watching and sharing your great story!
Great video 👍 it's true that you'll get better bang for your buck with bullion over collecting, but ask any stacker and they'll tell you that eventually the buffalos, ase, brits, etc can get boring. That's why I love 10 Oz bars. They usually have amazing designs for anything you could want while still having a low premium. Keep up the great work and keep pumping out the vids. We love them!!!

@bellowsforge9726 first of all thank YOU for sticking around and being a part of this small community. I love seeing familiar commenters. You guys coming back to the channel are what makes it grow the most. And yes gold is in the future! I'm waiting on the gold to silver ratio to get closer to 60 to 1 and I'm going to exchange some silver for a 1 ounce buffalo! I can't wait for that. Thanks for stopping by Forge!
It's all a matter of which "pocket" you are taking the money out of. I stack with the money I save, and I collect with the money I spend. If you want to collect, make sure you are not sacrificing your savings...

That Is brilliant advice! There's savings money and then there's fun money. Fun money for some people are an overpriced pair of shoes. Fun money for me is the premium over spot on some premium silver. Thanks for watching!
I am definitely a stacker, but I have a little different mindset than some. Everyone buys things that they don't need, just for fun, so say that you have $20 of fun money per week. You see a coin, round that you want, but the premium is a little higher. Use the fun money to add to what you would have paid for an Ugly Buffalo, you will still get the Silver, and something that you like. Plan for the cheapest, that you would ordinarily stack, skip a cup of Starbucks to get something really cool!

In Australia I stack tubes of kangaroos much the same as the buffaloes, I also collect the nice coins straight from Perth mint. I have found a coin shop that sells older perth mint coins at just a dollar over the cheaper new kangaroo coins that I buy for stacking great to look at but also easier on the heart when wanting to sell some.
@FourNines-silver

That's incredible. I couldn't imagine getting older perth pieces for only a dollar over regular pricing. I'm used to paying $4 to $10 over spot for mine. Thankyou for sharing your story!
I definitely do both. I have more Britannia's than any other coin. But I also have lots of premium coins. I try and buy more than one of any coin. Or at least that's my goal, so I can sell and still have some

@Yourtimeisnow-GG I have so much connection to my collection pieces that I'll never sell those. So I quickly realized that my stack was weak in comparison to my collection lol. I was failing at the wealth preservation aspect so now I'm beefing up on generics! Thanks for stopping by again!
Both, wait until you get into Engelhard then you’ll start collecting 5 and 10 oz bars. Then vintage and world bullion bars.

@@ironface76f lesson learned! Thanks for watching
I started buying silver in 2002, I never considered buying collectable silver I always bought bullion in the last 5 years or so I started buying only 90% silver they stopped minting these coins in 1964 sixty years ago, maybe a person can consider 90% collectable I think of them as bartering coins they are recognized globally they are fractional and they are a store of value, I gladly trade my infinite paper dollars for finite silver
@FourNines-silver
12 күн бұрын
You've got the right perspective on it for sure. Trade the baseless paper for finite pieces of history that hold real value!
@fin59shaw

If you like the "64& Before" Silver, you should have a little of Pre-33 Gold. Of course, a lot more expensive than Silver, but definitely worthwhile, history as real as it gets!
Silver is silver. If you forexchample see that one of the Australian mints are cheaper buy them. Mapels may not be the one with lowest price (but they are really beautiful) Kangoroo may const $2 less pr coin so if you thinking 1 oz silver and not the look the ones with the lowest price is good. I buy the silver and consider less what motive it has.

@Wesaveingold you're correct! Silver is silver. The difference between my collection and stack is my collection won't be sold. It will be value handed down to family. Rare pieces with limited mintages. The stack on the other hand is more liquid given that the premiums are less than half of my collection pieces and I don't have to worry about losing as much money on premiums whenever I do sell or exchange for gold. It really all comes down to sentimental value at the end of the day. Some pieces are special to me. Thanks for watching!
I stack but love new night And love Perth mint 🎉
