COLLECTING LEACH POTTERY (444 potters journal)

So many Leach family potters. Were to start? Deciphering the marks? A bit of mystery and reaction. Always fun sharing a new acquisition with you and even more fun with one of you right here with me . Thanks Eddie from Eddies pottery for sharing a look at your new Guy Wolff pot in the last video. link • Looking at Eddies Guy ...

How wonderful to have one of the Leach brothers piece. Watched Simon. In Spain with black hair, no beard, to Pennsylvania with long hair and beard, hats and no hats. He is so knowledgeable and warm hearted. I think all Potter's are eager to share. Still trying to get one of Simon's pieces. You are so lucky to have your own kiln. I live in a apartment not wired for that kind of power. Over a year + with no hands on pottery😞 so enjoy watching your videos, keep up the good work.

WOW, you were there from the start. I was too but only because I didn't know about subscribing and watching in real time. I thought you had to start at the beginning and 'Simon Leach in Spain' was a big discovery with his revealing his family. When it came to Bernard Leach and Michael Cardew's son Seth ( who I didn't know of) getting together it was just over the top magic, I melted. When I did jump ahead to the kilns something didn't add up - those were Pennsylvania trees in the background not Spanish one's. Don't know if I'll get around to getting the other brothers pots but Jeremy most intrigued me and if you caught the moment the vase was revealed I couldn't have been more pleased. As I'm pleased always to have you here, your words have always pushed me along. Glad I can supply some of your clay fix till you can get the real thing. Aloha.

@@pottersjournal I remembered how excited you were when you received the Steve Booten piece, so went to his site and am looking at one of his small moon jars that has a kiln tear on the side. Will think on it for awhile and see if he puts up some more pots. He's getting ready for a big show/sale in November.

I so enjoyed the video kzread.info/head/PLH1dKLDEPZi3HrnCClmgYfVGSc9beNEtO of your journey to Jeremy's Lowerdown. This pot may be from about that time, hope you got one. I'm so close I'll have to make the journey some day to Milhiem.

With both the Leach family and the potters and Owen family from Jugtown Pottery Is been great finding the current generation as strong or even more so than the founders.

I couldn't have been more pleased as you can see in the moment of reveal reaction. This was back in mid August. I just learned form a friend and watching Simon Leach's video that his brother John Leach had sadly died 29 August 2021. kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZKWfs7CPdqjHgbg.html With a father and their grandfather such a major figure in the school of thought for contemporary ceramics it can't have been easy for the three brothers. Like royalty some say it's all given to you but the reality is they had big shoes to fill. I'd say the three did quite well in their own unique way and I look forward to collecting two more to complete the set.

I found videos on KZread that tell the story of and maybe actually show my pot being made. The video playlist starts with a great journey to Jeremy Leach's Lowerdown Pottery. One of Simon Leach's videos features Robert Tinyunt. Other KZread uploaders feature Jeremy Leaches Lebanese pot. kzread.info/dash/bejne/onthqbCpda3AqJs.html
