FYI, they make a liquid rust remover. You can either wipe it on or let the item soak. It dissolves the rust down to the metal . Works great on all types of metal. When the rust is removed, you can clear coat the item and it won’t rust again. I use it to remove the rust from decorative tins. You can find it in the paint department.

I'm going to be looking for those when I'm out shopping and you were smart to start your collection early. I believe remember when you found those first two little jars with the sterling tops. They are still favorites of mine because of their size and that you found them so in expensive. The powder jars 😵😵😵. Okay, the button hooks and the Victorian tear catcher are another fav of all times for me of the things you've found! 😂💙. I loved and enjoyed seeing all of these shown all together. The cone shaped bottle that you said was for catching tears is probably a scent bottle but is missing its metal collar and lid like the other cut scent bottle you have. Over time, the adhesive that held these metal collars on sometimes started to deteriorate and just slid off. You're lucky you still have the dauber. Beautiful pieces!!!

He talks about his good finds one of which is a Queen Anne ( I think) sewing hoop it's only small and they were on ebay for over $200. Yes!! I love Wright’s. This summer I tried the natural way too. With boiling water, salt, baking soda , and aluminum foil. That was actually a really fun science experiment to do with the kids.
I love your vanity pieces. The moth is wonderful. I love your collection of button-hooks. I love the jar with the glass lid. My mother liked the word primping...she used it often. I was always accused of primping when I was a teenager.

Weren’t we all accused of that?! Lol
Love love seeing this. I just changed up my dresser and added all my Art Deco vanity trays and assorted containers. It certainly feels more decadent and I'm more inclined to use what's on my dresser now. I think I might need to get a copy of Victorian magazine, looks right up my street.

I have a clear vintage etched plexiglass purse from the 50s that was my mother's. I place beaded change purses and crystal rosary beads in it. Your container reminds me of it.
I love this video. These items are of real interest to me. I have a vintage perfume bottle collection as well as mirrors, and jewelry caskets but it seems like I am NOW in need of button hooks and powder jars... thank you... great content.

@9:24 🤩💖 Some of these antique glass laydown bottles held Rose Of Otto Or Rose Attar oil. I love the little zipper cuts in the glass. Gorgeous!! It is so hard to find them with their original stoppers in them.

My great grandmother was so little. She had the legs of a chair in her bedroom cut down. She needed to be able to button up her shoes and most chairs were too tall for her.
@TarnishedTreasures1
3 жыл бұрын
Wow! That’s a great story. Gives me an idea if I find a chair and need to make it smaller.
I love that moth! I have some of these old button hooks and files that were either missing the implement or are in very bad shape. Would you consider doing a tutorial on how to make one? I'd love to display it with my collection. Another idea for you that I have seen is to cut the tip off to where it is hollow and make a tussy mussy out of it. Thanks for your great videos.
@TarnishedTreasures1
3 жыл бұрын
I’ve seen the tussy mussy idea. For the moth I just cut out wings and glued them on top. Then glue a pearl at the top. For the legs I bent gold paper clips. That’s it.

@@TarnishedTreasures1 Thanks so much, I'll give it a try!
It is amazing to me the prices they are asking on Etsy & EBay for the Ormolu Jewelry Caskets and the Satin gold ones as well! Some of the ones I looked at were $150!!! Another wonderful video my Sweet baby 😘😘😘😘😘. And, of course I want you to give my little buddies a big hug for me! 💖🙋🏻

Hi and welcome!
I bought jewelry caskets like those. I got them for a good price as they had no linings. I relined them and gave them to my friends for Christmas. They loved them.

Thanks!
Loving these articles and seeing them in real life. The work on the lids is beautiful love the face. The gold coloured ones I wonder if you would call it silver gilt. After watching your sewing notions video a man called Clay Rammage had a video celebrating his first year on you tube. He talks about his good finds one of which is a Queen Anne ( I think) sewing hoop it's only small and they were on ebay for over $200. He has a link to the video where he talks about it (it's towards the end about the 7 mark from memory) one to look out for on your travels.

I agree. I could never afford these items online. I’ve just been lucky finding them in person.
The small bottles at the end of this video were bottles to carry smelling salts or perfumes in your reticule, or ''purse'' when you went out. The purse would have been kept closed with drawstrings.
Soo jealous of your pretties! Just abt everything u have is what I'm looking for. Love make-up & I'm wanting to dress my make-up desk so it looks inviting & elegant. Pieces I see are extremely expensive, especially if they're silver. U got very lucky! Fingers crossed, I'm not giving up. ;-)
