    Chig shades and a Pauly hat…you are ready to strut the runway! I didn’t even know about KZread until someone I knew referenced your site. I am low tech…don’t even have a cell phone, drive a 1996 GMC bench seat stick shift pick-up. Everyone else has a cell so I don’t need one. Anyway, through you I have discovered so many others and I thank you and I thank your wonderful family for their support. I hope your winter is mild enough to get out and wet enough to keep the plants happy and the lakes full. It was eighty degrees F here today and dry as a year old dog bone.

    I think you just solved a mystery for me. I knew this old guy who was prone to telling tall tales and he passed away a couple years ago. Well he gave me a sample of a rock that he said he found locally and that he sent to a few local ivy league colleges for identification and he claimed they could not identify it. It is shin y black, with a smooth to the touch surface, and is heavy for the size of it. It looks a lot like that titanite.

    wedge shape?

  • @PabloDiablo682

    @PabloDiablo682

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@meMiner No, that is the only thing that it does not have. It was my one question mark. The oild guy told me that it is a hard substance and that his grandchild took a sledge hammer to it, to try and break it. To look at it you would almost think it is a shiny piece of coal but it's not coal. So, I am thinking it may have been wedge shaped before the kid took a hammer to it. It looks so similar to what you have there. As soon as I looked at what you have I thought OK. BUT.....no wedge shape. Even the piece I have is in two pieces. They fit together like a puzzle where his grandson broke it. He said there was more of it and the college may have kept a piece.

    Description: Titanite is a common accessory mineral usually found as tiny grains in many different rocks. It is common in plutonic igneous rocks such as granite, diorite and syenite. Titanite also is a common accessory in metamorphic rocks such as gneiss, schist or marbles. ( I got this off google. We do have lots of granite so it could have been formed with that. But that stuff does not appear in abundance. It was so foreign to anything found around here and why he kept it. )

    Wow, you even have water stalactites there !! You received some nice specimens from your friend !!! That was so thoughtful !! That's a really nice silver specimen you are sending him as well., it was good to see you out enjoying your rockhounding. I'm getting about pretty well again and am ready to head South to my Arizona claims. Most unfortunately the free range cattle rancher there claimed my old mineshaft as a water resource and I won't be able to rehab the drifts. I guess it is ok, as I would have had to pump out the water anyway. I'll try and get a compromise and repair the old tank and pump the water from the shaft into the tank. If not, I would need to drop a new shaft after I core for the veins. I'm able to turn my head again so the neck surgery was a success. It's good to see Daisy and Shelby again. Best regards to the family !!!
