Collapsible Garage Paint Booth DIY
I was quite tired of setting up curtains and plastic sheets to protect my stuff from getting overspray on it; always ended in failure. Enough was enough, so I decided to do something about it. I built a foldable paint booth in my garage, with built-in ventilation. This paint booth helped me save space and make it easy to finish my paint projects fast.
In this video, you will follow my process.

That is super innovative….I love it. Wish I had something like that before I painted in the garage and the overspray landed on my husbands bmw which I thought I covered up well with a plastic drop cloth. That was 4 years ago and I’m still hearing about the fortune it cost him to get the overspray removed….smh
This thing is genius!!!! Now I want one even though I never spray paint stuff 🙈🤷🏼♀️
Best handmade paint booth I've ever seen.
@DaveyStruggle This just proves the Ole saying: Necessity is the mother of invention. 👏 You surely put many hours of thought, sweat, tears and a few choice 4-letter-words into making this 🤔💭 into 😉😁👍! Genius and Thank You from all of us DIYers and Weekend Honey-Doers. PS: Hope you consider copyrighting and marketing your invention 🤔😉👍.
That is super cool method to utilize your space! Great explanation of how you made it in the voiceover as well.
What a great concept. You did a great job of designing and explaining how and why you made this.!!
What a genius you are! I love this idea!
That’s brilliant. Great engineering!!
mate, I don't ever see you struggle. awesome content
That's genius brother. Thank you so much for sharing!
That is so smart you're a genius! This is what you should be making and selling!!!😉
This is so cool!! What a great idea
Awesome idea
700 points for your smart build, wish I had the room for one . . .thanks for sharing your smarts
This is genious!! I want one in my garage as well, and I can see that making a much smaller version would be a very good solution for some other smaller projects I have either in my crafting studio or in my pottery studio. So thank you so much for this brilliant idea! 😀🙏♥️

Wagner makes two different size tent style paint booths one I have gotten from Walmart it's about 36 in tall 36 in wide maybe and it collapses like one of those shields for your windshield for your car. And the other one is about 5'7 I want to say. I say that because I can just walk underneath it without hitting my head on it It also has a screen that you can zip up in the front so it doesn't let anything blow into it and it also has a what I would call a lip that unrolls from the bottom like a mat almost. The little one also has a screen in the back of it that you can put a box fan and a filter in it a 20x20 size. I believe the smaller ones $30 at Walmart and the bigger ones 40 or $50 I got it on Amazon.
That is really impressive.
Wow! Awesome!👍👍👍👍
Great idea
Great idea.
You are a genius!
Wow, thank you for sharing! To the garage! My husband is gonna be wondering about my new contraption. 😈😊
Thank you this is really helpful.
Everyone coming here after watching your most recent short… 👍🏼 this is excellent!!! I’m curious, what did this cost you in supplies?

I don’t have exact numbers but approximate break down is as follows. Framing: ~$100 Clear wrap: ~$100 Staples: ~$10 Dewalt drum fan: ~$150 Hardware: $100 Plywood for door: ~$70 Having it fold away into the wall: priceless
Very cool
Amazing. I did a similar thing for antique furniture rebuilding/sanding/painting too in my garage. Mine was a bit more work to collapse. I suggest you may run into issues with contamination of dust from the open flaps. I placed a high up air intake exactly like your exhaust with a double filter too. It keeps the air coming in lower in dust/contaminates. I also rigged a tube exhaust to the outside (under the door) to vacate the fumes as the garage filled very quickly with VOC's. Cheers.

Great advice, have thought about these options. Definitely might work to upgrade my paint booth.
This is the bomb !!!
I appreciate you sharing this link that you
this is awesome!! definitely one of the most user friendly foldable paint booths i've seen. all the designs requiring attaching different pvc bits to each other seem annoying lol
love it
By god all mighty you are a genious
A.M.A.Z.I.N.G! Do you have any ideas on how I can do something similar with no wall space in the garage?
Genius
This is a great idea. Unfortunately I do not have 1 square foot of garage/shop wall sapce to utilize. Maybe drop one that unfolds as I drop it from the ceiling like a paint booth cone of silence :)
😇 Thank you!
I love this booth that you made. If you can help me understand the pulley system a little better (size/type of pulley and setup), you would earn yourself another subscriber! 😉 everything else seems self-explanatory. Appreciate the video!

I do like this idea and concept I feel like that plastic would probably tear pretty easily though over time but I guess you could easily replace it just as much. Although I might have done an intake vent the same way you did the outtake. Maybe set up so it's going in a manner that would have creat a circular movement of air.
As others have said, very good idea!! But also as others have said, a little too fast motion for us carpentry challenged to follow. Could you go back and do it in normal speed and also add in the filter spot and the door and bend joint. Like another person said they may have to go through and take screen shots as they go thru. Me too😊
Fantastic build. Thinking of copying you design for my shop. I only have 10ft ceilings. How tall is your design all folded up?
Hey I’d love to make one of these. Can you send me some more info and pics possibly? Looking for more info on the hinges? Pulley etc
I’m definitely gonna be doing this. Hope this guy doesn’t mind me copying him but I’ll give him credit and I don’t think he’d put it on KZread if he was worried about it 😂
Hey man, do you happen to have these steps in writing plans?
What size was the Dewalt fan?
Does your filter setup keep the fumes and smell out of your garage?
How many 2X4s did you use in total?
11/7
Bomb. I wonder if Aluminum Studs would make it more rigid and therefore collapse easier?

Bro sees 6" of space between the garage door and the wall and says "I can fit a paint booth in there, easily"
😁👍
Dude, you should put plans together. I would totally but them? Like $15-20. If they are available let me know.
Since I am carpentry challenged, the video went way too fast. I think I am going to have to stop the video a couple of dozen times and take a screen shot of each step. I love this idea for spray painting. I didn't see where the square for the filters was made or how to do that.

I actually forgot to record that step. I used 3/4” plywood to frame out the filter holder. If you would like I can post a photo on my KZread channel so you can see it more clearly. I believe you need to be subscribed to see my KZread posts.

@@DaveyStruggle yes a picture close up would be great also the inside of the wood that splits to fold. I didn't quite understand what hardware was used. I thought you said hinge but I couldn't picture that. Thank you.
