The condition is caused by genetic changes that affect the production or structure of collagen, a protein that provides strength and elasticity to connective tissues.

in FA , its step 5 , proteolytic peptidase step, Ehlers has a deficiency in procollagen peptidase , this enzyme is supposed to cleave the disulfide rich terminals but does not occur in EDS
