Yup, biggest myth in the NBA. Harden is doing very well thus far and was a league average defender last year. People made him out to be the worst defender of all-time. Nothing wrong with league average D when you're world class at scoring, facilitating, and rebounding (for a guard). Lillard is the one who is AWFUL defensively but no one make a peep. Such sheep.

Last season's Harden? No way. This season's Harden? 100%. He may not be an elite defender, but like Curry he's actually trying now. That's a refreshing change from last season. With his offensive arsenal, and surprisingly good playmaking skills, if he ever gets half as good as Kawhi on defense - which is a very big if and cuts down on his turnovers, he'll forever be an MVP contender. And obviously, he doesn't lack any confidence - probably has too much of it though. But I would still want such a player on my team anyday.

Nothing worse than someone who wants to be a leader and doesn't show it on the court. No matter HOW good you are offensivly, defense is 50% of the game, which he does not play. For anyone to defend him on defense, like Colin said, 8 YEARS, ONE PLAYOFF RUN (in which he was the 3rd BEST PLAYER on the team).. so yeah.. defense does matter.

Jeremy Lin is a good player.That said he was overrated and overhyped 3-4 years ago in New York.Linsanity and all that.He is not a real all star even though he was voted as one. Still he would be a starter in half of the teams in NBA and a 6th-7th player in all the rest teams even in a championship team Its funny cause his teammate Brook Lopez is the complete opposite.I think Lopez is a top-5 center in the league and i find him pretty consistent too

Technically he was truthful. But why would lin stay in that role and get paid $2 million a year. Why would harden stay in OKC and not get paid his $$$. In Reality this doesn't happen. Lin left NY so he won't be getting paid minimum wage. Lin would be doing what he said if he were in GS, but how much can they pay him?

Nick jim, colin is the smartest commentator but nobody is 100% right. In nba all players want to get more $$ in free agency whether they deserve it or not. Look at matt delladova, helped cleveland win title last year but went to my Milwaukee for more bucks, and if you've looked at the nba for a while lots of bench players leave for bigger contracts, lin is no exception. Lin had injuries most of the season, now he's back he is winning. He's never been a permanent starter so let him prove himself next season

System players don't win championships. Great ones do. Kawhi can put up 25 points, grab 10 boards, dish out a few assists and lock down a star player. What can James Harden do? Score 35 points, dish out 13 assists, turn the ball over 9 times and play ZERO defense. You know? The one that wins championships? Like the one Kawhi won against Lebron James AND won the Finals MVP? Or did you forget that one already. Ya'll sleeping on Kawhi. If you don't think he's greatly improved, just go watch his iso play on Andre Iguodala (one of the PREMIER defenders in the league). It's not about who's the greatest player in the league. It's about who's the best right now. Right now, Harden is doing more for his team than anyone in the league, only Westbrook comes close. Davis too but his team is losing too many games. Jeremy Lin looked good ... for SIX GAMES. Let's not pretend that one dude's 6 game run "exposed" James Harden as just being a product of D'Antoni's system. The man has had 4 games of at least 30 points and 15 assists this season. There are only 7 players in NBA history to get 4 30-15 games *in their entire career*. There were only 3 games last year when a dude got 30-15. And Harden's done that 4 times in the first 9 games of the season. He's the front runner for MVP as of right now and he's deserved it. His defence isn't good, but it's massively over-hated. It's not worse than Westbrook's or DeRozan's. Harden not being on an All-NBA team last year was one of the biggest snubs in NBA history. James Harden, right now, is doing more for his offence than anyone in the league and it's not even close. He's the best playmaker in the league and a top 5 scorer.

People will bash Harden for claiming he's the best player in the NBA, but when you're a top 10 player you not just can claim that, but you should claim that. If you don't believe you're the best, you never will be the best.

James harden is also the Rocket's Entire offense. Not saying he's the best player in the NBA, but you can't really take into consideration the fact that he's averaging enough turnovers for the team when he's also creating most of the teams points.

***** the way the clippers and warriors and OKC are playing the spurs might not get a top 3 seed in the west so kawhi getting MVP might not happen and the rockets have gotten better as of now we got the same record as the spurs and we just beat yall in San Antonio the west up for grabs this year, teams like the jazz, blazers, Lakers have gotten better the spurs might be the ones struggling to get out the first round this year.

If he wasn't getting these assist and points they lose. Its as simple as that. He is producing a lot of both therefore helping them win.

But James Harden actually is the best player in the NBA

He is the best offensive player Collin. He will start playing defence when he gets in team that can go to the top.
