Coleman Camping Oven review

Hello everyone! For years now I've been wanting to take leftover food from home and heat it up at a campsite. I finally found a device that does just that. The Coleman Portable Camping oven uses a simple gas stove in order to make it work. I am sure you could use it by placing it near a fire but it is designed to be used on a square gas oven. Within 5 minutes, the oven got up to 300 degrees Fahrenheit, which is hot enough in my opinion. I placed some pizza and wings in the oven and left it for 10 more minutes. By the time the 10-minute mark ended, the over was 400 degrees and I could feel the heat emanating from it. The pizza was plenty hot, to the point it almost burned my tongue, but the wings were not as hot. I think protein could use a bit more time in the oven, that being said, they were warm enough for me to enjoy, way better than fridge cold in my opinion. Thanks for watching everyone!

I was very happy for you too, lol! Because the oven has so many small holes I’ve made cover of carbon felt to one piece to cover the back and 1 long piece to go from one side over top and down to the other side and just use clips to keep the 2 pieces together. It gives a better consistent temperature for baking breads, cakes and cinnamon rolls. It truly is a joy to be able to have homemade foods while on the road or camping.

Nice!!! I mainly use it as a way to heat up pizza and stuff like that. I was tired of eating it cold.

I would like to add, indeed lots of layers of heat resistant material covering the top and sides makes a world of difference in regards to maximum temperature and heat source efficiency. Because of that one can potentially even cook freshly created food if the heat source is powerful enough for the situation presented at time of use.

Super handy! I went camping to an island a few weeks back and got the chance to heat up some wings. Mmmmmm!! They were good.

Make sure the lips of the base are in the oven sides grooves and the clip at the front is then closed to hold it in place.. same with the roof. And don't use it on a single ring stove where the gaz canister fits inside the stove because the heat could cause the canister to explode if the oven is over it.

So far I have used it in this configuration several time and no issues. It is true that I could use a bigger platform, but this works just fine.

These have been around for a long time and were designed to be used on a classic Coleman suitcase stove. Looks like it works great on that stove you were using too. Fun tip, I found that a full-size CorningWare oval shape casserole dish will actually just fit inside.

I'm actually going camping this weekend too... headed to Waynoka OK (Little Sahara)! Reheating biscuits for 'biscuits n gravy' in the morning is going to set the rest of the day straight😅.

It seems amazing. The o my thing I noticed was the oven sat extended past the burner on the right side, and too close to the butane compartment, which can be a hazard.

Well, when using a butane can, the metal cover protects the can from what I can tell.

He had an extension to a Gaz canister separate from the stove. My stove only fits the canister in the stove so I'm hoping to use my just arrived oven over a small bbq grill I have.. the grill then doubles as a bit of outdoor heat! The oven will probably get filthy and it'll be more difficult to control the temperature l imagine but I'll experiment and l can put some sort of metal base under it on the grill - that's my plan anyway 😊

Have you ever used (gasoline) fuel bottles & stoves? is it better than propane? easy refilling, using your boat's fuel as backup etc.

ADULTS Ònly! . . Adults ÒNLY! . . . In my experience the oven works best on the most powerfull burners. Ones like (Coleman) dual and triple Unleaded or dual fuel burner stove while using only 1 of 2 or 3 burners to heat the oven. Does only work as well as described when using multi burner stoves. With one central input source feeding the right or center / main burner and redirects fuel when activating the secondary or third burner òr a (véry) high power single burner. Cheap / basic ones are often weak in heat output but many good enough to warm something up or keep something warm. I honestly used it only to pre-baked small buns with a dual Unleaded Coleman burner while only 1 burner was active (stove with red tank). When lighting up second burner it can only be used to keep something warm at low temperatures (Iether a setup where 1 source feeds several burners or a (very) high power single burner. I am sure that when using a (very) high power burner one could bake most products ...//Tip and my personal preference: make sure to pre-heat the oven to highest possible temps before use\\, even freshly created products. The maximum achievable temperature would be higher with (very) high power burners. I myself managed ...cannot exactly remember the temperature to be honest... but it must have been between 180°Celcius and 230° ...or was the maximum on or near 260°C?...Nàh, I thought about it being a nice achievable temperature 260°C. Thus enough for fresh products when oven on (very) high powered burner. Worked best with enough fuel for 1 session, not a full tank, this is due to amound of pressure air/gasses in the fuel tank. Greetings Jim
