This was my hometown railroad too. The original line extended roughly another five and a half miles northward through Bechtelsville and Eshbach before terminating in Barto PA, just shy of the town of Bally. Back when the track was being laid, several Bally religious congregations organized and prevented the tracks from entering the town to reduce potential for criminal activity. As I understand history, one of the most profitable daily freight runs was the morning milk train, sending dairy and other farm produce to Pottstown and then on to the Reading Terminal Market - street level under the train shed on Market Street in Philadelphia.

Eight years later, this place has grown by leaps and bounds. From a nearly abandoned spur to one of the top tourist railroads in the nation. Featuring nearly nine miles of unspoiled Pennsylvania wilderness, complete with cascading creeks, unmatchable autumn colors and native wildlife such as deer, fox, heron and even the occasional bald eagle. A renovated main yard welcomes visitors with restored iron gates, a colorful station and an always welcoming atmosphere. Historic equipment ranging from a 1916 flatcar turned open air extraordinaire to an entourage of gorgeously restored six axle passenger cars pulled by a duet of rare high nose long hood forward diesels. Additionally, there is a rare 1930s motorcar and railbikes frequent the line on lighter days. The soon to be crown jewels of this roster, however, will be their two coming steam engines, 18 and 5030. Both of these have their roots forged in Pennsylvania, 18 being built by Alco's Pittsburgh shop and 5030 is a classic Philly Baldwin, proudly showcasing Pennsylvania's manufacturing history. Colebrookdale's success is attributed not by luck or a big corporate hand, but by us. With ticket sales, donations and volunteering, we saved this line from being lost. After all, the train was there for us all these years, so let's be there for it.

I was one of the first to upload a video about this railroad. It is an excellent railroad and I got to see an Amtrak special as well.

Glad to see this part of my past was saved, I was there when the line was closed for freight use. Grew up in Boyertown, pa. consider it my home town. this was just what Boyertown needed to revive.

I'm glad to see this railroad got up and running. I remember seeing them at the Schuylkill River Festival in Pottstown last year.

That's a good question - it's been a while since I've been there, so I can't recall, outside of what's in the video here.
