This video is very one sided - take El Salvador where the woman featured, who is now under investigation for crimes against humanity in El Salvador for the tremendous amounts of people she ordered killed in the name of socialism, talks about democracy yet the FMLN was trying to overthrow a democratically elected government and instal a communist regime that had no popular support in El Salvador. All during the 1980’s El Salvador continued to have democratic elections and the communists never won so they tried to kill everyone who stood in their way of taking over - this was not about social justice it was about communist revolutions to overthrow governments, many of them democratic, with the help of Chile, Cuba, and the Soviets. Today in 2021 Daniel Ortega is still a dictator in Nicaragua, where human rights are non-existent, and in the last two years he has waged a war of terror and murder on his own people for wanting democracy - sorry but Reagan was right and the Sandinistas were a violent murderous group and they have proven that today.

@@Retards_Do_Airsoft_Beach That “pro-American” army was formed in response to the communists/socialists forming an army and trying to overthrow democratically elected governments, and those socialists never managed to win power even after the civil war until 20 years later showing that Salvadorans never supported them which they in truth did not, the communists were supported by other communist governments, other communist insurgency groups, and liberal elites in the US. We need only look at Nicaragua for how that turns out where Ortega is dictator to this day even though he was marketed as a freedom fighter in the 80’s

Joseph Ybarra the mistake in your comment is the assumption that governments are either exclusively communist, socialist or capitalist. There is a broad range between. We’ve never had a pure capitalist system and have adopted elements of socialism for some time.

Castro was 2 things: A straight up OG Revolutionary, and a man who wanted more for Cuba than the puppet regime that was doing the US's bidding. He was no more or less "evil" than any other leader of any other country. Hoover was shadier than Castro ever thought of being LOL. And Castro was educated, well spoken, and intelligent. Things the American's don't want the rest of the world to know. Knowing the documentary wasn't going to throw shade at him, or misrepresent him probably made it easier for him to talk to the interviewer.

The US(like EVERY OTHER GREAT POWER IN HISTORY LOL) was involved in an enormous amount of evil shady shit for one reason: Profit of it's wealthier citizens. It has always been this way, from the beginnings of the OG Revolution to the election of Trump, all of it's might, it's intelligence communities, it's economic strength, it's propaganda machines..all of it has been used by those with power and wealth for one purpose: to accumulate more power and wealth. Most of the people in government don't give a rat's ass about the people they are charged with protecting and serving, unless those people are the elite. This is literally history repeating itself yet again: those who have suppress those who don't, while using tools of fear, illusion, and propaganda to keep everyone in line.

Just a friendly reminder, hard-line US fans: Its not called insurgency when the people of a nation legitimize a movement. Either from right or left wing, the US does NOT get to decide what our government system should be Che was not a terrorist, he was a warrior for his ideals. Simple as that. And for the families in countries under CIA interventions, receiving news of death of a relative was the easier part Wives received bodies of their husband in bags, severed into pieces. Guatemala, Chile, Nicaragua and many other countries Local economies forced to a halt thanks to US global intervention, so they could fill their enterprises pockets. Of course they would fight US intervention

Yea, this kind of documentaries serve to show everyone that the US is just another shitty country doing all it can to enrich itself while hurting everyone else standing in its way. The only silver lining is that its now losing power slowly but surely... we`ll see how many it takes with it when it goes down - not saying it will be destroyed or anything just no longer able to do all it wants like in the past.

Jack Bat unfortunately our history is filled with interventions far worse than Guavera.. Presuming some altruistic motive on the United States’ part is foolish and dangerous. Pinochet wasn’t installed because Allende was a murderer. Noriega was propped up for as long as he was useful to us while he made a fortune on the Colombian drug trade on the backs of American drug abuse victims and victim of drug crime. You can dislike communism and socialism without having a hand in ruining the lives and economies of those who don’t live within your borders. If you’re honest with yourself, you either categorically excuse ruination of lives in the name of conquest destiny, or you do not. Picking and choosing from our past is a dishonest way to go about defending our interventionist history. It’s your prerogative to hate communism( although your crack about “the left” displays an ignorance or disregard of the diversity of thought and influence that makes our own country great). It’s not your prerogative to force nations who are not threatening you by their choice of political system to change and adapt your chosen political system.

World War 3 1948-1989; that is what both Russian and American top political scientist call the "Cold War", certainly just as many people died as in World War 2 and it was on a global scale, Latin America [South and North America], Asia, Africa and Europe, just about the only continents that weren't affected were Antarctica, I am not sure whether or not Oceania had any conflicts or not. WW1 and 2 never had any American conflicts and Africa was only limited to North Africa.

If you take even a brief look at ITT's history you'll see what kind of company they were. They did constant illegal business with the Nazis before and during the war (aviation and communication equipment). They were instrumental (with the CIA Chief, John McCone, who was a personal friend of CEO Harold Geneen) in the overthrow of socialist leader Joao Goulat in Brazil in 1964 & were again complicit with the CIA in 1973 in orchestrating the military coup which ousted Gen Allende (a popular social reformer who nationalised Chilean copper which ITT needed for its phone lines). Chile was literally handed over to Pinochet and we all know how THAT turned out. As late as 2007 they were 'prosecuted' for 'outsourcing' high-tech military equipment to China.
