    Good informative video. Based upon your and other reviews of this 1st gen CS Tanto, I beleive it to be a more effective superior design then to the later Tactical Tanto machete. What do you feel about this comparison? Looks like it would be good for butchering fish and game. As well with that sharp Tanto nose as possibly putting down a mangeled,Deer from a vehicle collision.

    Nice reviews! Which would you choose for camping general purpose? Also, which is better at Batoning?

  • @NutjobwithaMachete

    Thanks! For general camping, I prefer the bowie. It just seems to be more capable of in all the camp tasks. Hell, in skinning, the bowie is much better than the tanto. But, for batoning, I found the tanto was easier (probably because the bowie has that clipped point). Hope that helps.

    Just ordered one for amazon. I’ve recently gotten into collecting bowie and machete style blades as i’m a bow maker and need a tool I can tiller (shape) the bow with as well as chop smaller saplings with. Overall, is it durable? If treated ok, will it hold up.

    Aaron 117 for sure. I've actually just gifted this one to someone who needed a durable tool for camping and hiking. And that's after using often since then. Thanks for asking.

    How would you compare this machete to Schrade Priscilla machete you also reviewed, in terms of agility, sharpness? I'm thinking of getting one for home defense purpose.

    I’d take the Priscilla over this. It’s better designed for home and self defence. The balance is great and the edge is more appropriate for “zombies”.

    Say heah, Yeah, I only have one Cold Steel Machete, Once I seen what two knives Wessex liked, or what ever those videos were. His was a Mora and the Cold Steel Barong, By the time I wanted to buy a Borong they were sold out. So I got the C. S. Dual Edge and boy is it a good one, I use it in my Econo Carry, I teamed it up with my Steel Will Druit 240, and my Corona Folding Saw, The Dual Edge Machete does a good job clearing my way through the brambles, I also like to add my Estwing Double Bit Hatchet and ofcorce my Mora 510 as my neck knife. If I go with my Haversack than I can also use my Mora 2000 and my Mora Hatchet because my Mora Hatchet and my Bacho Laplander fits perfect in it. Another carry that's Lite. Next to my Case Set. But I carry my Druit 240, my Double Bit Hatchet and my Corona that has a Tear Drop Shape Handle on my Belt and my Water Bottle attached to my Haversack. Happy New Year and a job we'll done. ,, .

    Nutjob with a Machete yeah, I was very pleasantly surprised for the $$$, infact, I'm teaming my Druid 240 with either a Silky Nada in the double edge because Virtuvice told me the single edge slices more like a machete where the double edge is a chopper and split's better. or the Silky Noki which is a Billhook. ,, .

  • @paulie4x1

    The Noki would be a great Summer Long Knife in the area's I play in. It should chop and clear through the brambles, so I'll just add a folding saw and bingo bango blip blap blam, taking care of business. ,, .

    Which one you think is better for self defense,the Tanto or the Bowie machete?

  • @NutjobwithaMachete

    @NutjobwithaMachete

    I'd say the Tanto. It's size and weight make it easy to use and manipulate, but still light and fast. In addition, depending on the training the person has, a tanto can be easier to use for simple chops and stabs, rather than the drawing cuts that I find easier with the Bowie. Thanks for asking!
