The Trail Master is a superb blade! I have two San Mai ones. It has fantastic balance and it's very quick in the hand. In spite of its name it's definitely a fighting knife at ❤️!

@@MitigateStress Hi Stress! ;-) Well, unless you use your TM a helluva lot you're hardly likely to need to sharpen it any time soon (I assume you don't need to shave with it!). I also have a TM San Mai III, and it is a truly awesome knife, with perfect fit & finish! [I did however ditch the sheath, and had Rob Evans (Wales) make me a very nice leather sheath with a dangler. ] You cannot sharpen the TM San Mai convex blade with a Lansky. You'd do well to research KZread for vids on this, or get an expert to do it. It won't be needed very often, fortunately!

Nice patina on your TM..My Trailer Master in 01 turned out just the way I like it. Yup every knife has its breaking point. I tested the Natchez batoning fire wood to handle loosing ( that was the Apocalypse Bowie that I intended to rebuild, I sold it to Concerned Aussie) I had to at least be proud of how much abuse that cable tang took, & even than it was only loose. Keep up the great work 👍🗡🗡🇺🇸🤠🐎⚔

@@DonnieBAllDay Yeah it's apparent that you have a case of the @$$ with CS or Lynne and am puzzled by that. Of course that is your affair and no one else's. Speaking personally I've had good luck with CS the knives Ive purchased, and the customer service- such as I've needed (not much). The new owners didnt do themselves any favors by jacking prices into the stratosphere, so at this time I'm waiting for them to get real price-wise and looking for used older CS knives, which I would carry into hell with me. My CS knife usage goes back to the Bill Bagwell days. Before I got into Bagwell and later LT, my selection besides Buck folders was a khukri, a USMC "fighting" knife, and a Buck 120 which I carried for like 40 years. Actually, looking back, still solid choices today...

The Sandbar Fight was most likely with a repurposed large kitchen knife, which led to what we now accept as a Bowie style. The Arkansas Toothpick was also known as a bowie blade. Cable tangs are historically accurate and help absorb shock, eat that full flat tang! Sadly, with the Cold Steel sell out O1 and cable tangs (as well as SK5 and Spike Tomahawks) are dinosaurs.

My guess is he'd like it, he may have an issue with the handle or not, however it isn't as good of a chopper like the Wild West Bowie and others but it has a wicked clip point, is sharp af and is very light compared to all those heavy chopper Bowies, not saying it can't chop but just seems more suited for possibly a combat attacking type situation, i imagine it would work quite well and possibly better than some heavier ones. Personally I like its weight not only for that but it is very comfortable to carry. When one is hiking and already carrying a bunch of things this can be very nice because it gives pratically the same reach and blade length as the other mentionned knives (altough the Wild West Bowie etc look of course nicer)

Have a lot of respect for you brother for ALOT of reasons. However, I will agree to disagree on your cable tang opinion. Glad your's didn't break. I know you don't baby your knives. Honestly, with the amount of money going into that knife, it is baffling to me why they skimped on the cable tang. For that reason alone i never bought one. Sticking to my guns in a manner of speaking. It matters to me. I'd be very willing to pay more for a better tang. It's good until it's not good. That's my opinion, and my consumer vote to not purchase it. I did get the trailmaster in both San mai 3, and cpm3v and they are great. Peace my brother.

The cable tang is fine if this knife is used for what it's made for. Knife fighting. But facts are, Noone is doing that. So a full tang would make more sense. The engineering of the cable tang for reducing vibration is genius though

@Surleyone both are great but war machine is like a kabar on steroids. I like my tops, condor, cold steels, but I like the full tang and beefier upgrades to the classic style fighting knife that is battle proven. The war machine is perfect size for me. It's also a price thing for me.
