Order this blade here: www.kultofathena.com/product/...
Cold Steels Dadao Machete is an excellent way to harness the ferocious cleaving power of the Chinese Dadao at a budget price; the blade is tempered 1055 high carbon steel and it possesses a sharp edge and a black, baked-on rust-resistance finish. The full tang is fitted with a tough polypropylene handle with molded cord detailing for an improved grip. The sword comes with a nylon Cor-Ex sheath with buttoned retaining straps and a hard impact plastic tip. It has a long, adjustable strap which allows it to be worn on the back.

I've got more than a few machetes and this and the all terrain chopper are the best choppers as far as making deep cuts. Cold Steel makes some pretty good machetes considering what they cost.

Make no mistake friends, IMO this is, by a long shot, the most powerful "machete" (I use the " " because this thing is a sword and not a machete to me) I ever viewed. As a 'Pro' that never harms, is more cheaper than some crappy, pure wallhangers, "swords" you can see on Amazon etc Mark my words and buy one :-)

You should show off their Barong Machete too. I just got one and it's amazing! excellent forward weight, very nice grip, and it's Lynn's favorite. Should go out and make a day with some CS Machetes in the woods and have yourself some chopping fun. :)

People make the common mistake of carry the shoulder strap wrong.. over the shoulder yes but put the handle in the blade running up under the arm and armpit , point facing towards the back

I’m curious if the tank goes the entire length or if it transitions into a threaded rod half way down.

Does it have distal taper? With such a wide point, I'd be concerned it wouldn't balance well without distal taper.

No it doesn’t. Since it’s one of their “machete” versions of a sword, it’s cheap so many sword features are non-existent. It’s NOT a machete. This is not a tool you’re going to use in any practical situation. It’s too big, poorly balanced, and way too heavy (due to the lack of distal taper, it’s about 3mm thick entirely). There’s not a prepper, woodsman, survivalist alive that would use this seriously as a tool. Here’s the thing... It’s NOT a sword either. It feels like sharp hammer/crowbar in the hand. So using in a combat situation would be at a huge disadvantage against an actual sword designed to fight. What this is, is basically a sharp, dangerous toy for guys who don’t really care about what actually makes swords good. Remember, just because these weapons (Chinese dao) look humongous, doesn’t mean they handled like bricks ;)

It’s based off the Dadao which is basically a big sword. Very popular throughout 19th and 20th Century China.
