Coghlans fold up Stove / Sterno Fuel / Camping gear Review.

Coghlans fold up Stove / Sterno Fuel Review. Low cost camping stove for the beginner. Good for emergencies, car camping, tailgating and indoors. While this is not a high BTU stove it will still boil water for your favorite hot beverage or dehydrated / instant food items. Sterno fuel burns clean and since it is in a gel form makes it safer for indoor use. It also is a great camp fire accelerant. Not to mention its awesome hair gel Just kidding.
Enjoy the Video.

Great demo from a safety perspective; use of pliers to move door latch and replace Sterno can cover very important to know in advance.

Thank you for the great video! Been using sterno stoves since I was a teenager (I am 71, now). By the way, you just introduced me to the COFFEE BAGS! For that, I am most grateful.

awesome VDO. I am about to buy it but honestly did not think about it getting hot after use. We often have a coffee in the morning after camp and head home. Now have to prepare on how to pack it.

Well, now I see how it is supposed to go together. There were no instructions with mine and, worse still, parts were missing. Apparently it had come apart and two clips were gone. Without instructions I had no way of knowing this until now thanks to your video.

im thinking about buying one of these to keep in with my hunting gear. I have been thinking about taking it hunting with my grandpa and I so we can have a warm meal while hunting this deer season, and this coming turkey season. I have made an alcohol stove, larger in size than probably needed but as a pro cook, I want as much heat/fuel as I can get in a little stove lol. Great vid. I lived on those coffee singles a yr or so back

These stoves are definitely well built enough to handle a heavy pan like cast iron. What type of alcohol stove do you use?

This is what we use when the electricity goes out. Works great. The Folgers coffee is really good, I agree. We also make cowboy coffee which is easy and even better. Put the grounds in barely boiling water for 3 minutes. Strain and drink.

Follow Mors Kochanski coffee recipe..from cool water heat it up and the raft of coffee grounds will disappear once boiling. After 3 minutes boiling it makes the smoothest tasting coffee. Cowboy Kent Rollins follows the same recipe. Add cold water...grounds settle out. No grounds in your cup.

Great demo... I think the stove is decent and it possibly could be used with twigs in a pinch if you ran out of Sterno... With that said I saw a review on the Sterno jetboil type stove.. a circular stove you put the Sterno can down inside and then there's a cup that screws on top in that review the water was boiling within 10 minutes!! Most likely because very little heat escapes from the jetboil type....

16.9 oz bottle fills to 20 oz line in pot? Then fits into 16 oz cup? Is this a magic trick?

That was weird. I noticed when he removed the pot, it looked like it slightly shifted till the left. I could be wrong, but, the little supports on the stove don't look flush, they look too be protruding a bit. If so, because of the smaller pot size, it could have been sitting offset. I have some stoves that do this with my smaller cups and pots. Sometimes to the point where if it sits offset, water can spill over from the lower side.

Is high power when you open Sterno top fully with a side cutter. Or use alcohol burner with pure methanol....hot

  • @weatherstorms
    @weatherstorms5 жыл бұрын

Try using denatured alcohol or yellow bottle heet with carbon felt soaked with the methanol inside the sterno can. That should speed it up.

If you haven't noticed the smoke detectors didn't go off. Sterno fuel is the only fuel you can burn indoors that won't give you carbon monoxide poisoning. A cheap and easy way to boil water or heat up a can of Spagetti-O-s during the next power outage. Just pick a can large enough to fit a Sterno into, cut out the top and bottom of the can and cut some air ports on the side with a pair of tin snips or drill with a hole saw for oxygen. I got a coffee can sliced open for my next blackout.

Sterno Stove, GREAT IDEA... Thanks for the tip on the single serve coffee packs too. Also really like the backpacking pot, aka Cups... Now for my edumacation, LOL.. The cheapo in me thinks this would work better and cheaper with just some wood blocks, bricks or small size clay pot to save weight just to rest in, Walmart camping mug/small pot and a sterno fuel from the dollar store???? No pliers needed to open or worry about touching while still hot either. Am I wrong?

Tested the theory, sterno from the dollar store, 3 nuts on hex bolts on rim of can for little height over flame & 20 oz glass jar filled with bottle of water... Took forever but works in a pinch; ON THE CHEAP 😉
