I think it is an issue of learning to compromise. He learned his lesson after loosing her. Goes after her and even apologizes to her, taking the full blame for their break up 2 years prior. She, on the other hand, appears to have moved on but, by her last statement, we see that she is still not willing to compromise in relationships. She is about to get married. She wants "her dalias" for her wedding no matter what. No other flowers will do. She has even been told dalias are not in season. That appears to indicate she is not very flexible in matters of "her wants". Relations are all about compromises, the "givings" and the "takings".

Obsessed with this film, I saw it maybe 25 times. It held a mistery for me. Was so sad for Alicia. I rewatched it again and again to try to get what hid in between words and looks. Not so sad for her anymore. Here are my observations and hypothesis : - she is very determined and a little "omnipotent" : what she wants, she must get. Job. Children. Even for little things, like flowers to her wedding. Her time must be "the" time, despite seasons. - She was in the same control with Javi, who therefore, didn't feel accepted and really loved for who he was. - Many deep issues in the relation : he is an artist who needs to "let go", she is more like a manager... kind of opposites. - The young pregnant lady seems very sweet and loving. Maybe he felt accepted as he is by her, so, even if it wasn't his choice to have children, it's become easier for him to give her what she wanted. When you are in acceptance and welcoming, everything becomes easier... even if the feelings are maybe not as intense. - Life seems to be teaching Alicia a lesson of letting go, renunciation, acceptance... for a deeper capacity for love.

There is SO MUCH crammed into this short film. It begins and ends with her "I want what I want" wedding plans, which is fine, okay, but a hint to her character. She's "busy," as she apparently was when they were together (and got promoted; the busy-ness paid off). She wanted her coffee to go; had to be persuaded to stay. His first question is about her mom! He's thoughtful. Asks if she's happy; she cannot say. He has grown. He's grounded and practical: working for his dad--not what he wanted. Stopped smoking (we'll learn why). He's become the man she'd wanted. She's settling because she wants what she wants now.

She couldn't just keep waiting, they are clearly both in their mid 30s, he was obviously not willing to take a job that could provide because he saw it as a sacrifice. But by traveling with no plan and coming back broke, he ended up in the family business anyway. Like I always say to my kids "not making a decision is a choice. It's just that the choice is made for you." It doesn't sound like he loves his new girlfriend but now that are having a child and he had to take a job he doesn't want If a woman wants children she can't keep waiting indefinitely and he wasn't willing to settle down and be responsible. I think its better they broke up, its sounds like he is going to end up resenting letting go of his dreams for stability. While ultimately she is driven and has goals, she just got a promotion and she is proud of her abilities, she is getting married etc. They ultimately do have different values.

That's one way to look at it. Or, it confirms his continued Peter Pan attitude toward life. He wants to travel the world, hot girl on his side, no responsibilities. But, if that doesn't work out Daddy's there to bail him out. You know that pregnancy was unplanned. Let's hope he's able to finally man up. But given how quick he was to take the ex-GF's hand says otherwise. I hope the ex-GF continues to stay strong and know that, as much as she loved him, he would not make her happy.

I don’t feel it’s that at all, it’s a question of timing. He wasn’t ready, didn’t know what he was losing and let her go. Now pregnancy happened to him and sadly not with the person he now realized he wanted. He clearly loves his ex still but she moved on and he has responsibilities now and is taking them seriously, it doesn’t mean he’s a bad person if he took his ex’s hand, come on. What is sad is that you know, in the long run, they both probably won’t be happy and will always have regrets. Doing the « right thing » comes at a price but you should own your choices when children are involved.

As someone who gave up everything creative I wanted for my first husband including living around the world, I applaud the guy in this for knowing what he wanted to do, even when the woman criticized him. I divorced my ex who wanted a simple life and now I'm married to someone who's compatible with me. And we've lived all over the world and we're both creatives. I'm 1000 times happier. I wish I'd had the courage to stand against everyone who thinks life has to be lived "normal" and followed who I really am. I could have saved myself a decade of misery. But in this guy's case, he wishes he could have had his adventures and this woman who, clearly, wasn't a good match for him.

Overwelming. I don't get how people who watch this incredible short film can affirm the intentions, feelings, personnalities of the characters with such assertivity. What is extraordinary in this film is that it reflects the complexity of life, without giving "answers". Each of us can project their own vision of the situation, and nobody is right or wrong. It's brilliant because it's so opened and true. No necessity to judge one or the other. Complexity of life. So many questions without answers.

I don't believe I seen better acting than that of Alexa Jimenez as Alicia. I watched in awe, how, in the course of 12 or so minutes, every nuance of of the slow 'disrobing' of Alicia's emotions is miraculously uncovered for us. Just as in a Chekhov story, in her performance, a whole lifetime is distilled into a passing moment. In the dramatic honesty of her mobile expressions we can trace her transition from hopeful past, pregnant present, and disconsolate future and read it like a book, sheer acting artistry. She is ably counterpointed by Daniel Grao, as Javi

Great short story and so full of emotion. well done to the actors. Alicia comes across as a woman who is driven and has goals and good on her for wanting to strive for things in her life. Javi is a free spirit who wants to travel with no responsibilities and wanted to be a writer which is all well and good but that needs money. If they did marry and have kids, their relationship will not have survived as they are two different people with very different goals in life. They tried but they were not able to compromise so was best to move on and find partners who are more compatible. Life is made of up of compromises and nothing is ever going to be 100% perfect. You have to weigh up what you are prepared to compromise on to be happy. There is no point in committing to someone, no matter how much you love them, if the compromises/sacrifices are too high a price to pay. There is a fine line between love and hate.

I was this woman once and made my choice between the irresponsible love of my life who'd kill for me but couldn't get a job - and a much less romantic but reliable and grounded man. 20 years and 3 kids later, am I crazily happy? No, but it's what you call an good ordinary life. Would I have been happy with the first one? I doubt very much. After all, you need so much more than puppy love to build a family. We all make choices in life, and that one was the hardest for me. I did the right thing but I certainly miss the pure happiness of my youth which I shared with the love of my life. PS. He never married.

I was in the man's situation in this scenario. And I did marry the person who didn't want the adventure, and I was miserable for ten years. We both were. I finally divorced him and I'm now married to a man who is creative and adventurous. We are both artists and work freelance. We have lived together all over the world and haven't rented a proper house in years because we house sit other people's mansions. It's a wonderful life and I'm so much happier. But I understand that when people want a traditional life and children, that's a completely different desire. I never wanted those things. And security isn't my top concern. Living life passionately is what I want. And I feel so blessed to have someone who sees life the same way. And just because people are artists or creative does not mean they are poor and unable to live a beautiful life. We have everything we need and we don't have to sell our souls at a 9 to 5 job to have it.

Preciosa y potente.

Life is always a compromise, and very often our first true love teaches us that, but not until we’ve lost it. Only then, after living with the heartache are we experienced enough to make a mature choice, which he was finally capable of doing. They were each other’s teachers and first loves, and what an important role they each played for the other. As so beautifully played by the actor, he was clearly a good man, and would make his new love happy. She clearly IS happy. And Alicia IS planning her dream wedding…with someone else. It’s a lovely story of love never being lost even when life has other plans for us.

She needs to fill her live with something.

The first time, she felt unwanted; or not good enough; or maybe 'too much'; or an inconvenience, because of his immaturity. The second time, he crossed her way and pushed some real sensitive buttons, leaving her with even more pain, because of his nostalgia. He looked quite uncomfortable, when his conversation with her was disrupted by his pregnant girlfriend. At least he takes responsibility for her condition, but I guess, it is only, because she is pregnant. Now he is broke. Now he needs a job. Now he needs to pull himself together, and now he makes healthy choices, like stop-smoking. The girlfriend is too young to know the difference. I feel sad for her. She is still so lost and lonely. She had to work hard for a good job position. His father supports him. Her last words, that she wants white dahlias for her wedding, but maybe it is out of season, described her future. She settles for another lie. This time, her man doesn't have any understanding of her heart's wish to have a white wedding, but she has to be satisfied with a kiddies party zone. Again, she feels let down and not worth enough, to fight for. I hope she will pick herself up for her _real_ dahlia season. Personally from experience and observation, a woman who loves herself, will clothe herself with _true_ romance, where she can be who she is meant to be; a beloved wife and mom, with beautiful memories of her white dahlias. There is nothing lawful in it, but only grace. This guy knows nothing about her white dahlias. He is still playing her. He has no right. He shouldn't even be there. The next man doesn't have a clue about the condition of her heart. Hopefully, there won't be a wedding at all; hopefully she will find her heart and gets her freedom. There is life after a quick divorce. For some girls it takes a bit longer to truly find their complete worth, and grow into their true selves. But it is definitely possible.

I am learning Spanish. This film has gave me so much motivation to keep learning. It’s such a amazing tale of heartache and shows a potential love that could’ve been and should’ve been. The hug spoke a million words without a single syllable leaving their mouths. I needed this film right mow

I came across the film by accident. What a gem! It is perfect in every component and detail: dialogues, timing, duration, and above all - the acting! So real and so painful! I watched it several times in a row.

Simple observations and comments: Serendipity- as if the universe/ fate is giving them chance to meet again “accidentally” for a reason, there are symbolism, signs, gestures that there are longing for each other, they are their true love but the timing has to have its season- like fruit that ripens naturally, some men admit the woman they married is not the woman in their heart, the long & tight hug says it all- as if they do not want to separate, and after that hug she became emotional - like something crack open. They love each other from the heart- but they let their differences get in the way( she is a planner and knows what she wants while he is like a free spirit- wants adventure ,the outdoor, globetrotter), his connection to the new girl is shallow- same interest/ activity level- globetrotter, even a baby cannot hold the marriage together, the ending of the story could be a Beginning- it is an open ending. Maybe Fate wants them back together- their last chance/ their Final answer. Notice that both are not yet married at that point- both practically still single. Maybe love is lovelier the second time around.

Yees I got the same interpretation! That they are both in shallow relationships now but their are the true love of each other and may get back together within the years
