He learned from his mistakes trying to push dustin and other bookers with sons that failed to get over as big stars(Watts/Bill and Erik) Dusty knew so much and was so creative but if he stayed with WWE instead of doing WCW I dont think so many cool things he created wouldve happened. VKM would have probably not envisioned a lot of Dusty’s ideas and would have nixed them. Also WCW without Dusty is hard to imagine, quite possible that WCW would have been gone a lot earlier than when it was killed off. Also Cody leaving WWE when he did and then returning when he did were the 2 best decisions he has made career wise. Those last months of AEW the writing was on the walls, the mixed fan reactions and how the Boos affected him, he knew it was the end of that road for now. He did the right thing. I think eventually say 5-7 years he will go back to AEW and receive a warm welcome home. His ROH, NJPW, and Indie show days when he first left WWE were a special time, building off his own talent and pairing with the Bucks and everyone was the best thing he couldve done and it paid off big time! He is THE biggest wrestler not named Will Ospreay.

The perfect analogy
Dusty's one of those, where you don't realize how big of inspiration, influence he was backstage until someone brings this up. Without Dusty WWE would be nowhere near where it is now.
Cody is at a point in his career that his decisions are paying off. He has been everywhere, and now he is at the Mountain top.
It takes a man to raise a man. Dusty raised great sons!

I actually appreciate that dusty let cody be cause while that sucked in a way that he didn't mentor his own son he let his son not be protected and make a name on his own! Let cody become the star he is on his own merits.
Legendary Dusty Rhodes. Never forgotten ❤
Dusty didn’t want to make the same decision he made on Dustin in WCW when he pushed him to the moon

Yes because he was literally Bray Wyatt's final opponent that's what emotions do to you, the mountain dew pitch black match was straight ass. Stop for a minute and actually listen to the name of that match and tell me otherwise. LA Knight didnt come out looking good he survived the Bray Wyatt feud. He made the most of his minutes on the mic and showed his charisma, LA knight got himself over not Bray.@@curlyg9925
See here’s the thing that makes Cody getting to where he is now so impressive, he got out of Dusty’s shadow. Unlike Rock and Randy’s fathers, Dusty was a mega star, meaning Cody had a bigger hill the climb to get free from the shadow of his father.

Armed Anderson
Dusty helped all of those guys from zero. He knew Cody was already years ahead of them and saw Cody as a man. Its just how older guys were, and look at what happened. Cody started a company than had an amazing start and then got the leverage to return as himself and one of the top stars
Now Bray and Dusty can write their promo battles in heaven 😥
Cody ur pops was top self we got you
Cody could use Armed Anderson for back up against The Bloodline
Dad knew his sons would make it
If there’s a classic Wrestling Mt. Rushmore, Dusty Rhodes is definitely on there with the likes of Flair and Hogan.

God bless dusty he was the best, i hope my mammaw got an autograph when he went to heaven
His Godfather is Magnum TA. He didnt need Dusty because Magnum knew how Dusty thought
And he would be proud...
I love Dusty Rhodes and on Arn Anderson they are both icons Cody is lucky to come from the umbrella of at least one of those it's it's tough not coming from your own dad but I'm sure his dad was proud
The reason why I will always love Cody is because he and his dad coincide with mine.
It’s very sad to know that dusty never got to see Cody get to where here’s at now. But I would imagine that Dusty would always believe in his son and would always hope great things for Cody. Maybe that’s why Cody is trying even harder now than before. He knows his dad woulda been proud and believed in him. Now I think Cody is just trying to prove it to himself
It's crazy when you realize that the greatest era since attitude were all trained by Dusty and then his son who wasn't trained by him found his own to be at the top above dusty's kids.
Can’t wait for Heel Cody 🥹🥹🙏🏽🙏🏽
Dusty is always in my memories as a kid. He was so cool
I mean, I think that makes Cody's story even more amazing. I think he knew how good his son was and could be but knew how important it was to do it not in his shadow, as much as he could
Arn Anderson coming in to watch Cody win at Mania would be awesome
As far as people that have been the most influential behind the scenes dusty and arn are right up there. They helped so many new talents figure themselves out its ridiculous. As well as writing so many arcs it's beyond belief.
Dusty had a great creative mind for the business. R.I.P. the American Dream!
He knew the name rhoads was enough sp he helped the guys that needed it most.
He’s definitely got his dad’s lisp when he talks. I love it.
Dusty didnt help cody because he already did so. Dusty got cody a job for life and what cody did with it was on him. Dusty worked with and shaped people who had to earn their place, keep their share and gave everything just to have a chance.
Cody Rhodes your dad will always be remembered by wrestling fans as a legend and a legitimate trendsetter of PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING. BAR NONE
I’m sure it was for good reason Cody. You have come into your own so well.
The fact that dusty wanted Cody to be his own man honestly is the most integral thing to Cody’s character now. Dusty still lives in him with the moniker he goes by and little things here and there but code is his own guy and it’s amazing .
I loved watching Dusty wrestle when I was a kid. Cody "is" and "will" be the future of the WWE.
Dusty leavin' a mark on this industry thats not going away.
Arn Anderson makes a suprise return and gives Roman an Anderson spine buster at Wrestlemania 40
Lana Rhoades is the best Rhoades and it isn't even an discussion
Dusty is a legend man rip Cody you are a legend in your own right
When he figures hands off was his biggest lesson
You had the most incredible Dad, God needed training and called him.
I dont think bray was dead when cody said this...
Imagine if Cody got to be one of "Dusty's kids" and he helped him develop the American Nightmare character much sooner. Cody might’ve never left and been a main eventer by like 2016 🤷🏾♂️

Dusty had one of his greatest rivals watch over his baby boy.
Cody your father is very proud of the men you and your brother have become. He did you right by not showing favoritism and giving you to arn. He knew you would be fine and you needed to learn. He needed to bring up all of the young bucks
Dusty Rhodes was the best professional wrestler ever. if he was on the card at the civic center in philly, i was going. best talker, showman, worker, seller, face... and that's just in front of the camera.
Arn Anderson should have been World champion if not for the WWE hires in WCW
Bro Dusty literally developed 90% of the stars on WWE television today. It’s crazy when you think about it.
As a child watching The Four Housemen grab a cameraman and jump Dusty at his truck in the parking lot, just to hear the son of a plumber say, "you better kill me", before they sing a bat and the camera goes black as the ends is burned into my memory. Santa was never real, Dusty had me looking to adults pleading in my heart to send help waiting a week to see if he was alive was too damn real!!!
The American nightmare is one of the best “gimmicks” I’ve seen in a while. It screams top start heel or face
There is a finish of a match called the Dusty finish. So he will be remembered probably in the business for as long as the business is around.
Dusty let his son thrive on his own I respect it
Cody was left by Dusty to pay his own dues. Dude is still paying them 👏👏👏👏
Dusty was one of coolest people I ever met.
Arn is really that og. All i hear is great things about him
I remember when Brutus the barber beefcake cut Dusty's hair and Dusty punched the mirror.. One honest case when I saw a wrestler legitimately angry😮
He left you his LISP!...💪
Virgil will always be remembered for his contributions to wrestling, tbh his sons where better in the ring than himself as it should be
He learned from his mistakes trying to push dustin and other bookers with sons that failed to get over as big stars(Watts/Bill and Erik) Dusty knew so much and was so creative but if he stayed with WWE instead of doing WCW I dont think so many cool things he created wouldve happened.
Dusty made the sacrifices only a true FATHER would make or even have the wisdom and heart to know.
Dusty is a true wrestling hero.
It's why Dusty was so special. He didn't love the paychecks, the spotlight, the wins, the titles, or the politicking.... he loved the business, and did everything in his power to make it better.
Dusty Rhodes is my most favorite person to watch and listen to.
And this is why u became a goat sir❤🎉👏👏👏
Now imagine how many Undertakers got
Just admitted awesome underrated awesome just say it
And there you have it the Cody finish
Wanted Cody to learn the hard way like him. Ate his pork and beans in the alley and now Cody's dining with kings and queens
Cody is the best wrestler in his family.
its in his blood, hell it in his lisp. GO RHODES
If he would’ve kept helping, the Stardust character would’ve been Cody’s legacy. Now he has legitimacy rather than idiocy.
Dusty was smart for that
Arn stepping like always. 👍🏽
Dusty has to be part of that Mt. Rushmore for me, given hes cared about the next generation of the times. From old to current talent.. Natalya, Becky, Seth, Bray, Roman, Sasha Banks, Saraya, SamoaJoe, Kevin Owens, Sami,Williams Regal, Sheamus, Bayley, & Even Ric Flair.
Its crazy that Arn and not his own Older brother in the same company was asked to watch over him
No lie told by Cody
I don't know why but Dusty reminds me of Khabib Nurmagomedov's father
He doesn’t know it yet but when the story of Cody is written his dad saved him from being “just an extension of Dusty’s success”
Dusty was the G.O.A.T
Dusty did the best thing for him, he’s letting Cody make his own name
He left you to the writing wolves... Stardust story confirms this...
Dusty is to Dustin as Vern is to Greg and Bill is to Eric.
Its crazy that Bray Wyatt was Dustys idea
Arn the Glock Anderson what a goat
I don't understand why people didn't like Cody Rhodes as much back in the day
Dusty really knocked it out of the park with Cody. When it’s all said and done, I think that Cody will be remembered as one of the all time greats, just like his father. Dustin was great, too, but not on the same level as Cody.
Dusty saw what happened with Dustin Rhodes, David Flair, and David Samartino-- he knew he had to be absent if his son was gonna become a star on his own. Cody has become his own man organically, the same way Dusty did back in the day.
