Man yall gotta understand, his father and brother were always told they werent good enough to be at the top of the card in the WWE. They had to rely on gimmicks. Now he gets the chance to have more input in his creative because of the things he went on to do when he left. He's been very successful and i think couldve been a solidified icon if he stayed away, but its hard not to right wrongs, its hard not to try to go back where you failed and show people you can be successful. Im sure he'll leave again, but this is just something he has to do right now

I see alot of AEW fanboys in this comment section just shitting all over Cody. Stop, just stop. You guys are just as bad if not worse then the WWE fanboys. Good wrestling is good wrestling and I don't care where it comes from. Cody vs Seth was a really good match. And I think Cody will actually do well in WWE. It doesn't have to be all under one roof. Back in the 90s we enjoyed both companies. You had a few brand loyalists but for the most part we just enjoyed both companies. Now because everything has to be so hypertense all the time fandom has developed this my team vs your team dynamic. Leave that to football or basketball. We don't need that in wrestling. Let's just unite under the banner of we want good wrestling. Let the companies compete with each other and let us reap the rewards.

@I am Supernaut true, but alot of them are. Most of the ppl online who act butthurt whenever I make a counterpoint tend to be AEW marks. I'm sure there are plenty out there who genuinely just don't like Cody but there not the ones making noise rn. Those ppl didn't care before and they don't care now. It's the brand loyalists who keep saying he's gonna be a midcarder in 3 months. And it's because they want to justify there AEW fandom by saying this is why I don't watch WWE anymore. The majority of AEW fans are the lapsed WWE fans who just couldn't take watching WWE anymore. And they believe that WWE arnet capable of doing anything right anymore. Both companies have fans that are unbearable. But with the AEW lot it's like the way ppl view the Cowboys or the Lakers or the Yankees. WWE is still the biggest wrestling company on the planet and the AEW fans are the fans of other teams who just hate those teams no matter what. (Granted at least the Lakers and Yankees have won championships in the past 17 years while WWE has shit the bed alot in that same timeframe)

I'm glad Cody went back and hope things go well for him. He just isn't the type of wrestler/style that is gonna work in AEW. looking at him on the roster was like playing a game of one of these things doesn't match.

I thought Cody was a complex interesting character who had learnt a way to piece together an ultimate work, keeping everyone hooked and invested... Now I know he is just a narcissistic simpleton who was a massive mark for his own brand, and non of it had the complexity I hoped it did. He made his own dream a reality, then sold it out. In no way interested in what he brings to the plate in WWE.

AEW was not Codys dream. LOL He helped create AEW because he was mad and to give an alternative for other wrestlers. He left because he felt he didnt fit there anymore and he wanted to go achieve his real dream.....win the WWE championship because no one in his family has..

Okay, so my view is Cody is a wrestling genius, but is blighted by his arrogance and narcism and how that feeds into his ambition (he's not really a simpleton, I just said that as a wind up - and it totally worked). I'm not disappointed that he left AEW, but I was enjoying the liminal space his character held, getting huge mixed reactions - and I was intrigued with how the booking and story around this was going to develop. I'm tickled that some folk responding to the original message here are so fragile that they're resorting to taunting me. Also on several occasions Cody stated in interviews creating AEW was a dream come true for him. He made 2 mistakes - while he had EVP privileges he booked himself out of ever being in the title picture, this was prior to him realising he was going to lose his executive position on creative control (lots of his ideas were really bad) - at which point he's at a constant impasse where his end goal can only be secondary titles and putting over new talent (which he was doing really well but on too tight and predictable a cycle). Ultimately he's done the best thing for AEW as he was taking up a lot of TV time and there are much better/more exciting performers.

Mid card in around 6 to 8 months time Cody. You’ll be lucky if it’s not before then.
