“Change the landscape of wrestling” - keeping some WWE legends busy before their eventual HOF induction and producing maybe 5-6 young stars that’ll debut in NXT by 2024 Cody went away and came back bigger, but a lot of that is the idea of him going away and becoming bigger moreso than AEW actually elevating him. AEW didn’t. Time, distance, and some word of mouth did it.

I wouldn’t say he was only a midcarder before leaving WWE, multiple title reigns, pop culture exposure from working with Stephen Amell, exposure OUTSIDE of pro wrestling! This whole “AEW made him a star, not the WWE” mindset is some tribal BS, even AEW fans know better. Being in the WWE is what made him a “sombody” to begin with.
