LYRICS
Couldn't ever dawned on me
All the things that I would be I
I never really looked out quite that far
It's never been a simple thing
To see the world with a young man's brain
With an old man's heart, restless soul
Yeah, my family went broke my 18 year
Dad took a job many miles from here that
That was alright by me I was on my own
I had a band, found a job, life was alright
I worked when I had to we played all the time
Only, got through that first year of college alright
But I learned more on the freight docks
Driving forklifts on the 3 o'clock a.m. shift
In the winter time, man it got cold
Selling guitars on the west coast goin' hungry
Chasin' ghost around and around we would go
And I saw it all tending bar at night
Treatin' saints and sinners right
It's a good thing to do all the time
You never know who you're talkin' to
But always know who's watching you
Keep your feet movin' straight down the line
I've known a lot of real good men
Grad school or no school
I've called 'em my friends, I'm
I'm somewhere in the middle and that's just fine
No, I don't give a damn how much money you make
If your last shirt has pockets, take all you can take, I'm
Well, I'm goin' out with nothin' like I came in
'Cause I learned more on the freight docks
Driving forklifts on the 3 o'clock a.m. shift
In the winter time man it got cold
Selling guitars on the west coast goin' hungry
Chasin' ghost around and around we would go
And I saw it all tending bar at night
Treatin' saints and sinners right
It's a good thing to do all the time
You never know who you're talkin' to
But always know who's watching you
Keep your feet movin' straight down the line
But I learned more on the freight docks
Driving forklifts on the 3 o'clock a.m. shift
In the winter time man it got cold
Selling guitars on the west coast goin' hungry
Chasin' ghost around and around we would go
And I saw it all tending bar at night
Treatin' saints and sinners right
It's a good thing to do all the time
You never know who you're talkin' to
But always know who's watching you
Keep your feet movin' straight down the line
Yeah, somewhere in the middle is just fine
Yeah, somewhere in the middle is just fine

That’s his mother and sister. His 2 biggest fans and Cody himself will tell you that.
Hands down to me this is his best! I'm a heavy equipment operator. I build roads for a living. I've had breakfast with a logger that worth half a billion and helped the young struggling appreciate just trying to figure out what the real would is like. This song will never get old!
I first heard this. All I can think is how my life was growing up. My dad was always on the road. And my mom basically raised us. It was hard not having my dad around. But, he was driving for a living. He was always faithful to my mother though. Love this song.
I don't listen to C.J. often enough But when I do SO DOES The naborhood .....
Cody jinks is such a badass! Can’t wait to see him again
One of the most independent artist of real country music the one and only Cody Jinks the one that does it his way what a amazing real country music ⭐️
Holy shit! I haven't heard anything like this in decades. Beautiful piece. Marysville CA loves this one. We love all of yall who can feel this! This is real country... Brought tears to my eyes. Breath of fresh air. Much love to all of those in the struggle. There will be a brighter day.
That's probably the best harmonies I've ever heard live. That bass player can sing them perfectly.
Long live Cody Jinks. We love you man. We love your music. Andre & Stephanie Martins Fachada❤
Everyday since I found them. This song and Dax's Dear Alcohol get me started everyday on yet another day of sobriety. The guitar at beginning gives me chills. Thanks for what you all do. God Bless Us All. Take care.

Damn it Cody,, I’m suppose to be a Strong woman, but you bring me to tears. It must be something in the water. Me and my husband are always on your wavelength, we seem to be plugged into the same receptacle. Outlaws and Mustangs, they always come home. I wear that tee shirt every night, waiting for my man.❤🍀.
I wished my brother was still here to witness this voice.

This song reminded my husband of my Dad living somewhere in the middle always saying whatever we did for him was perfect because he wasn't expecting the president to visit! My husband and our 24 year old son had a conversation about this song and he (grandson ) told him that is him also he just wanted to live somewhere in the middle. He was killed by a drunk driver on May 31, 2023 so he was never given the opportunity to just live somewhere in the middle. We played this song at his memorial service because it meant so much to him.❤ Keep on singing your songs Cody and bringing meaning to others with your music.
You, sir, are on another level. Never heard a bad song from you. After finishing this video I will play some more on my giant ass stereo so my neighbors can listen with me
