Cody Garbrandt - Learning when to stop fighting

MMA fighter Cody Garbrandt grew up throwing punches. He comes from a legacy of fighters on both sides of his family. Long before he ever set foot in the Octagon, he was sitting outside the ring to watch his uncle, an Olympic alternate in boxing, and battling with his most formidable competitor, his older brother Zach.

Awesome testimony man, It takes more courage to share something like this than it does to compete, keep opening up and showing people who you really are! I got dragged to church after I had to retire from Motocross a lot earlier than I had ever planned, and I had reached the lowest point of my life not knowing where to turn or what to do. But it was the greatest thing that's ever happened to me, and like you said it's been amazing to look back and see that He was always there, even when I would chalk it up to crazy coincidences and luck. Keep opening up and being you brother, these sports have a crazy way of changing you big time but like I tell our riders, keep your eyes focused on the Lord and you'll never lose yourself on the journey. It's so easy to do what you think everyone else wants you to do and become what you think they want to see. Just tell the truth, share that light, and let the Lord use you to inspire others along the way. You're the man Cody, I wish you the best in your future!

In my opinion getting dusted by the same dude twice in a row pretty much proves you are in fact not the best fighter in the world. 2nd best in his division is pretty good. Chill out..

Lj Garcia Your right it is a battle but when one has truly repented and put on Christ, he is a new creation according to the Word. The old has passed away! I follow the UFC quite a bit and this guys actions are far from being transformed! The reason why there are so many athiest today is because so called “christians” speak one thing with there words than live a life that contradicts! Luke 6:45 45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks. Watch all his press conferences to all his fights!! Far from Christ in his actions my friend! We can’t abuse Christ grace and as believers we should use righteous judgement to be able to call out those who claim but don’t follow! Just as well as I claim Christ but if I contradicted Him I should be called out as well! 👍 I do pray and hope he is truly transformed!

  • @ljthemessenger

Tyler Hergenrader I’ve been following UFC since I was born haha oh I’ve seen his press conferences leading up to fights and I understand what you’re saying! Our souls are so valuable even Satan wants it. I will say there was something different about his most recent fight! Nobody deserves an “all access” grace pass! (Romans 6:1-2) One thing I do know is not only does hypocrisy turn people away from Jesus but so do people who pick people apart and don’t edify and encourage! Being in the spotlight everybody sees and I bet it’s hard but what would our lives look like if God could project what’s truly in our hearts? I understand there is a time for correction (Hebrews 12:6) but you and I knowing truth should be an example and encouragement to Cody and lift him up in prayer instead of just exposing him and everything he does wrong! I truly hope he means business with God too! Pray for Him because he also needs it just like you and I! God bless.

Lj Garcia I’m not picking him apart I’m calling him out! Being in the spot light is no excuse! If Christ is in you, He will flow out of you! Your right Christ calls us to love!! Sometimes loving is calling people out when need to. All of Mathew 23 “woe to you, hypocrites”!! Jesus calling Peter satan!! Some where along time people lost the fear of the Lord!! Clock is ticking, In Christ return he is not gonna be a happy camper!!

I hope we can see more of this Cody in the future. He needs to stay truer to who he is. There's more to him than just a fighter. The strongest trait a fighter can have is humility, it fights complacency (I can always be better), allows a fighter to adapt to changing circumstances (emotional investment in strategy vs. effectiveness of said strategy), and keeps the impact of loses to a minimum (Nothing to lose, all to gain). Cody showed plenty of humility in this video. Once Cody realizes this is his greatest asset, the achievements will come. So to Cody: Remember who you are, you don't need to be anybody except yourself. God gave you gifts, use them!

Perhaps because he needs to be an ambassador of Christ even in his career. I’ve been watching MMA for a very long time and was not aware that Cody claimed to be a Christian. Praying that God can renew His mind through this moment of tribulation ( his last two loses) So that when he win his championship back he can truly put Christ in His rightful place and represent God not only with just words but also actions. +Daniel Moreno ¨Praying that God can renew His mind through this moment of tribulation ( his last two loses) So that when he win his championship back he can truly put Christ in His rightful place and represent God not only with just words but also actions. (Matthew 15:8)¨ What does it even matter if he wins or loses in relation to his connection to god? Why even put winning a championship as a requirement for him putting christ in his rightfull place? He can put Christ in His rightful place without even ever winning again and also if he has some accident now and cant even walk anymore. Why even consider his last 2 losses as some moment of tribulation? There are 2 guys who fight, if the one wins , the other loses. He would do his soul better to not see it as some tribulation or some low point in life.. He described his losses in wrestling as a contributing factor to his depression, but it would do his spirit well to not get so depressed for a loss. there is no need to involve god in the outcome of a sportsevent about 2 men fighting. People should stop connecting these sports events to god, trials, tribulations, etc. Winning losing, competing in sports should be a morally neutral thing. People who win claim god is on their side. Like the great footballlegend Johan Cruyff said: In Spain all 22 players make the sign of the cross before they enter the pitch. If it works all matches must therefore end in a draw.

That's ironic cause he came 2nd in his last bout with Dillashaw as well... Coincidence ? 🤔

Why's everyone hate Cody? TJ may be the better fighter but he's a shit disloyal human being, there's more to the feud between these two than Dillishaw leaving Team Alpha Male that was only the straw that broke the camels back.

Unlike the fake TJ fans we didn't jump ship when Cody lost twice. If and when TJ looses that belt I guarantee y'all jump ship. TJ is getting older and won't be able to make 135lbs forever
