Coda Stealth Mic Booster Comparison w/ the Shure SM7B, Cloudlifter & Klark Teknik
Coda sent me their Coda Stealth inline mic booster which means I'm a big time KZreadr now! In this video I'm just trying to give you an objective comparison between the Coda Stealth, Cloudlifter CL-1, and the Klark Teknik CM-1 with the Shure SM7B and the Audient evo4. Let me know what you think. Prices on the Klark Teknik are all over the map with the current inflationary situation, apparently.

I have that Klark Teknik as well and have been incredibly impressed at what it can do at such as cheap price!

Hi Phillip, I'm a beginning podcaster using an Electro-Voice RE-20 usually paired with a Triton Audio Fethead. I recently bought the Klark-Teknik unit you feature in this video, having seen favorable reviews on KZread, and hey - the price was right! But immediately upon trying it I found the effect it had on my voice most undesireable. In my case it made my voice sound way too crispy-crunchy and it just wasn't good, but hearing it on your voice it sounded quite alright. I guess what I can conclude from this is that the in-line preamps do add some coloration to the audio and depending on the speaker's voice some may be more suitable than others. I found with your voice the Cloudlifter and the Coda Stealth sounded best to my ears. Great review anyhow brother, keep up the good work.

Thank you! I wonder if it’s a qc issue. Might be a good reason to stick with the Cloudlifter and Fethead. Good luck with the podcast and enjoy that microphone, I’ve been wanting to try one!

Hey Phillip! I’m purchasing a SM7B along with a Rode caster this week! Do I need to purchase a cloud lifter of any sort?

You don't have to... If you can sit close enough to the mic (no more than 2 or 3 inches) you can get away with it and you can probably set the gain to around 40 to 45 dB and have plenty of levels. But if you're a quiet talker or you want to be able to move a bit further away, a mic booster will definitely help you. You're going to start hearing some of the noise floor from the RCP with the gain that high so it will come down to your tolerance for a bit of noise or your ability to use the noise gate or some noise removal software. Just try it out and see how it sounds for you before you invest in a booster

I buy my XLR cables from a local shop called Remote Audio. It shouldn't matter too much, just don't buy the cheapest cable you can find but don't spend a ton of money on one either
