Cocteau Twins - Wax And Wane (De Meervaart, Amsterdam 29th January 1983) [Soundboard Sync]

Музыка

This footage was recently uploaded by KZread user paraatheid, and that original post can be seen via the link below. I've edited it here by syncing the audio from a stereo soundboard recording. The Dutch TV broadcast actually cut in just before Liz Fraser starts singing, so I split and edited about 40 seconds worth of footage from the broadcast to visibly compensate for the extra audio intro section.
A huge thanks must go to paraatheid for the original upload, and for their kind permission in allowing this post...

There is no other female vocalist who can come anywhere close to Liz's vocal dexterity. She's one of a kind and I never tire of her or Cocteau Twins. I've been listening to them for over 30 years.

Wow I just happened to be looking for live performances of Elizabeth Fraser today. This was the first one I bumped into. After I finished watching it I noticed that it's a performance from 29th January 1983. Today it's 29th January 2023 .. No algoritms were involved. A pure coincidence I bumped into this performance that is exactly 40 years old today. *__*

What sets apart the Garlands LP from any other CT's work is Heggie's thunderous, brooding bass lines. They dominate the song structure and they set the tone. Shallow then Halo, Garlands, Blind Dumb Deaf and this one are all perfect representatives of bass driven melodic structure. In Shallow then Halo, in particular, in the first minute of the song the only melody heard comes from the bass and Liz's voice.

Spacefreak Agreed. As much as I love Simon and all he brought to the Twins, the driving, melodic awesomeness of Will’s lines is unquestionable and I really would have loved to hear what his influence on the band’s sonic evolution would have been. I sometimes imagine what certain later songs might have been like with one of Will’s bass lines driving them...🤔

Love it when a singer is POSSESSED by a song. She was so crippled by stage fright. Watching them was always such a tense experience. She hates this. But the song comes through that. It took a toll on her but... wow! Hope she's happy now.

Haha I never understood labels in music mate. I grew up listening to metal, punk, hard-core, classical, etc. People will see me with a Maiden shirt and the next day will be Joy Division. They asked me if I was metal, gothic, I was always say I am ME!

Huh! I'm tired of seeing it happen, I've seen numerous videos re-uploaded from my channel, it hurts even more when they're videos I've taken quite some time editing lots of clips together to create a kind of promo. It's one of the reasons why I've not posted anything for some time now, but I am thinking of making a return and just leave my ID screen card after each video finishes. It may not deter all, but other than YT deleting such duplications, what can one do?
