Coconut the $74,000 Medicine Cap filly!
Үй жануарлары мен аңдар
Here Jackie does some desensitizing with Coconut using a yellow rain coat. This filly is going to be a champion halter horse. Coconut is not for sale but as you can tell by the price we aren't in a hurry!
Coconut was born 5-Feb-13 and is about 6 months old in this video. Her color pattern is called a medicine Cap. Coconut is also known as a WAR HORSE which these markings are extremely rare. Only the Chief or the Medicine Man rode this rare horse. They must have a shield on their chest and markings on their flanks which are also called shields. and they can only have 1 blue eye with liner around the eye. This eye in Indian Mythology is called a Sky Eye. If the Chief or Medicine Man dies in battle then this one blue sky eye will carry their spirits to their Gods. So that is why she is soooo special :)
Coconut is by our stallion Chief (SONNYS MISTER TRUBAR), who is standing at www.downundercolour.com

Could u do a updated video on her? I really wanna see how she turned out :)

I hope you keep that precious horse! Apparently she is priceless!
She's adorable! I'm curious to why she's worth $74,000 when there are many Medicine Hat horses. I own a Medicine Hat as well with the war shield and Sky Eye.
She is absolutely gorgeous
Those beautiful blue eyes. wow, what a pretty horse.
coconut looks amazing and i love how u look after ur horses and animals..thank u for caring so much im so happy to see the love u put into all ur horses=)
Coconut is not too thin and certainly not wormy she has just come through weaning which is the hardest time on all foals no matter what age. Coconut has been on the YEARLY NEWMAN EQUINE PLAN newmanequine.com/ since the day she was born which means they take care of her annual worming , vaccinations and her coggins. She is a halter filly and hadn't filled out yet in this video and as I said before she was just weaned she didn't eat or drink properly for days. She is now 3 and freaking HUGE and she is as fat as mud and only for sale to someone who can come up with her exorbitant price....lol.... so it seems she will be with us forever and we are very happy with that :)

74 thousand dollars is way way to fucking holier then thou a lot of people will laugh in your face before slamming the door in your face. at least i will slam the door on anyone who is ignorant enough to have that price tag. i for one work for my money so can not sit back on my butt while some high society want to be charges that price for a horse 74 000 can go to a house and bills for me but only someone who has to earn his or her money will understand that.

Medicine Hat horses were prized by Native American's and believed to have magical powers such as protecting the rider from danger or injury or death in battle. It was believed to bring good luck to the tribe and often other tribes would steal a Medicine Hat to bring the good luck to them and take it away from the tribe stolen from.

What a lovely baby! I have to say though, one of my favourite things about these videos is the videographer's commentary - you can hear the love in his voice! XD
So adorable
Omg them eyes are beautiful!!!
Beautiful horse! I just watched the video of when she was a baby awe
she grew up absolutely perfect!
For those saying she's too thin, she's athlete thin- just a bit skinny, and at this time she hadn't grown into her full self... not filled out yet. She's thin like how Greyhounds are when healthy, you can see their ribs, but they are at their ideal weight. Not saying she was at her ideal weight here, but she looks healthy and given that I've read the comments from her humans, I know that she was skinny because of weaning and stress. That's a state any animal can go through when something changes in their environment. Adopt a dog from a kill shelter? Dog might go off eating until he/she adjusts to their new home. Or even shelter animals and horses/mules/donkeys in kill lots often go off eating for a time because of the stress they are under. For one with little real-world experience with horses but one that watches videos on them-and animal abuse videos... (the kind where they raid puppy mills or horse abusers, to save those still alive) I have seen what horses and dogs look like when seriously skeletal thin... Coconut is not that here at all. Plus, I doubt her coat would look as good if she really were underweight from lack of adequate feed and similar health issues. She's beautiful and a lovely young girl... Perhaps educate yourself and watch some of those animal rescue videos on horses who are truly starved... or look at Kill Lots, you see horses there that are truly in need of help. Maybe look up a horse rescue and donate if you are concerned about a horse that needs help.

I have a 4 year old marked exactly like her and we use this www.myponysunblock.com/ on her and her sire, their eyelids and noses. As babies even their little pink butts for protection. It's good stuff, completely safe and natural, lasts forever and easy to apply. I'm glad someone gave me the information and wanted to pass it along.
Wow he looks exactly like my paint/pinto Marley I think he is a Medicine Hat
Pretty lady!
I don't understand the whole braiding the mane thing. Otherwise, it looks like she's responding remarkably well to being sacked out! Out of curiosity, is that ring of color around her blue eye natural, or did you decide to color that in yourself to protect it against sun damage?
she is going to be a good trail horse.
Wish I had $74,000 xD I would so snatch her up, she's too darn cute
So does coconut have 1 or 2 sky eyes?
At least she's not head shy. Best to start babies out with in a few days. Mine was 6 months old , I bought a pony saddle , put it on him , he was broke to saddle already. Able to be ridden at 15 months by my young child. He never knew he wasn't broke.
How is coconut now or did you sale her?

Her dam had to be put down when Coco was 3 months old, she took weaning really hard. They posted the name of their vet, call them yourself.
She looks a bit tucked up under her flanks and her offside hind seems a bit stiff at walk.... otherwise a lovely filly with much more growth to go, she'll settle and relax a bit more.
@downundercolour
7 жыл бұрын
thanks Tania she sure filled out beautifully. She looks tucked up in this video as she was still going through the stress of weaning. We had rescued her dam and after having Coconut she was extremely lame so we had to euthanize her when Coconut was barely 3 months old. So her weaning was really hard on her. Her mother was walked waaaayyy up the road before the vet helped her over the rainbow bridge so no other horses could see anything. It was a very sad time for us and poor Coconut. We normally slowly wean with the mother across the stall from each other so they can talk and see each other and then after 3 days we put them next to each other in separate pastures so weaning is normally pretty drama free. but for poor Coconut it was really hard on her :( which is why we babied her so much :)

That price actually doesn't surprise me. Many people will sell their horse for like more than $20 or $30,000. Whoever pays for the horse the horses current owners knows that their horse/foal/colt is being cared for!!!! Im saving up for a horse and considering on training and competing in horse dressage and horse jumping competitions!!!!! Owning a horse is not like owning a dog. There is lots of responsibility and hard work that most people don't even think about when they want to buy a horse. They might be like oh i want to buy or adopt a horse but they don't even take into account on the chores/training/vet fees that goes into keeping a horse
