Coco is one of the most famous Disney Pixar animated movies and films. Starring Miguel and and his old grandma! Hector! The story follows a 12-year-old boy named Miguel (Gonzalez) who is accidentally transported to the Land of the Dead, where he seeks the help of his deceased musician great-great-grandfather to return him to his family among the living and to reverse his family's ban on music.

SOOO Fun fact about this movie, before it was released Disney tried to file in order to secure a copyright to The Day of the Dead holiday. Like....all of it, the whole holiday. They wanted to issue a copyright on every candy, decoration, image, and tradition that was involved with Day of the Dead.... Obviously the court was basically like "You cant.... do that..." and it was shot down, but its still so wild to me that a company basically tried to say "WE OWN THIS HOLIDAHY NOW!!!" after making one movie. Awesome movie though, love seeing all that skeleton representation!! 💀💀💀

Wanna know the screwed up part? Ernesto ain't dead from that bell. According to the creator, due to how the Land of the Dead works, he's still undead under that bell. On top of that, even if they choose to get him out, he's gonna rot in prison since he got exposed... and the worst part is, despite Miguel exposing his crimes, there's bound to be holdouts who choose to remember him; basically, since he spent _years_ coasting off Hector's songs, he's not gonna get his Final Death for a _long_ time...

The creatures are called "Alebrijes" they are a popular Oaxacan handicraft here in Mexico, the idea is making a monster made out of different animal parts (tho half if not more just look like dragons) making it ugly and then painting them with bright colors and bizarre designs making it beautiful. They were created by a piñatero because he saw them in several dreams while he was dealing with a gastric ulcer that almost killed him Dante is a "Xoloitzcuintle" a native breed that was thought to be mystical, being the giude and guardian of the dead during their journey trough the Mictlan (Mexica (Aztec) land of the dead). Don't know when but ppl started giving the same rol of Xolos to the alebrijes and everyone just rolled with it so that's why they are on the movie and Dante became one.

So the messed up part here is that this movie is based on a real family in Mexico and they make pottery instead of shoes and they modeled grandma coco exactly off of a real woman in the family and they have not received any compensation despite heavily basing the whole story off of that family

I like how Imelda didn’t immediately forgive Hector (but still decided to help him). Even though he died, she still had to raise a kid all by herself at the end of the day (which is _very_ hard, coming from someone with a single mother) so it’s just nice how she didn’t immediately go “Oh! You died? I completely forgive you then! All past resentments are buried and everything is completely fine now!”
