There is a flop in the movie too 1. There is no oxygen so they won't evolve and will die 2. Green moss wouldn't grow there since there are a lot of toxic gasses 3. Cockroaches wouldn't be able to move at a very fast speed and they wouldn't have a humanoid body 4. Waw they did a live action movie of terraformas. Years back I got ptsd by reading the manga. One because I got phobia of roaches/coakroach. And they got mutated lol. Two because after so many chapters I only can see failures and failures. I even scared to root a character because next chapter they might die lol. When I see one I kill it ! I don't care how big it is or if it flies or not I kill it and end of the story ! Any insect wanna die comes to me I gladly kill them , believe it or not I kill the fly it can't avoid my strike cause I hit with my hand steady so that I don't make the wind that gives the signal to the fly that my hand is coming and boom the fly is dead ! But I prefer kill it in the air I smash it like a tennis ball , and when the cockroach is flying I hit hard that it hit the wall and fall down dizzy then I perform the fatality ! Sometimes I burn it ! Brutality ! Hahahaha

Terraformars is one of those movie adaptions of an anime that actually had a good run. Rather than being called out for being terrible like most movie adaptations for anime. Making the film a live action one with cgi only increased the gore and action factor that 2D animations couldn't deliver.

I watched a show that once explained their weird creature based and dystopian sci fi comes from the industries origins in the post nuclear Japan. And influences a lot from the folk tales have evolved with them

I remember reading that as a manga more than a decade ago. The name of the Manga is the same, for those who were wondering. Terraformars. One difference i remember though is that the roaches didn't evolve because of radiation but because someone replaced the moss they planted on Mars with a different one that made them evolve.

This movie would not be nearly as amazing if it was any less weird honestly.
