Punk was in danger of becoming a caricature of itself and a fad by 1979 and then on Aug.1, wham! The Cockney Rejects released their Flares 'N Slippers e.p.and the vibe changed. The no poseur, no bullshit "kid on the street" was now a force to be reckoned with in music. The B side, Police Car and I Wanna Be a Star are equally good. 2 more singles followed. These goosed punk but their Greatest Hits Vol1 was a swift boot kick up punk's ass, something it dearly needed in 1980 when Oi took over.

It's about a bloke they went to school with in Custom House who used to wear flares and trainers all the time (they referred to trainers as slippers then).

The rejects were never Nazi's, so all the crap written on here, especially by qlap10 and NeutralAtJSP, is misinformed Bollox. The Rejects were practically destroyed as a band by the Press associating them with the Right, they couldn't play anywhere. If you do ever get to meet any of the band, I suggest you tell them that they're Nazi's, see what response you get!!

I had a rejects album/might have been 12inch of them playing dub reggie and not too bad ,why would any nazi muscian do that?
