    I remember the episode where Mcgirk had Brendon on his lap, was holding Paula, they were all looking at themselves in the mirror. Mcguirk goes "Someone get a picture! Because this is the happiest family I've ever seen!", Paula's going, "Noo!"

    I mean I feel like kids in cartoons are kindof always more developed than people who are actually that age. or maybe that's just my personal experience talking idk.

    @theradionicrevival8068

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@Lawg202 nah you ain’t wrong, however in this specific case i’m 85% sure its just due to a lot of it being improv But tbh you ain’t wrong, its honestly often mainly due to the writers of whatever kid characters that are involvee being WELL into their 20’s through 60’s. Some pay attention to it more, but obviously their grasp on the little intricacies of how kids talk or act are obviously gonna be a little rusty, and often what little they do know or remember is gonna be something kids only did 20 years prior lmao. Sometimes its just a matter of plot convience though that was sometimes necessary for the story to actually progress and sometimes just a odd oversight. Some stories that star kids couldn’t quite work if the characters acted EXACTLY like real kids. Aka too dumb, too cowardly, too empathetic, too emotional, too shortsighted, too immature etc Some stories be given these kide HELL and expect them to actually respond within seconds 💀💀 Sometimes its unitentional sometimes it is like in south park or steven universe (but only in the later seasons when he matures a little faster due to obviously horrible things happening to him causing him to mature) Like even seriously well written kids like bart simpson or calvin from calvin and hobbes still tend to have linguistic capabilities and overall nuance far beyond what even some of the street smart kids at 6-8 would normally tend to have lmao I feel like characters like Lilo from lilo and stitch, hazel from infinity train and even steven from steven universe in the earlier seasons are pretty honest to god realistic depictions of how actual kids are. when steven began to mature it tied more into what was happening within the story and not some random thing he just developed or always had. But even in those cases, those are primarily because the creators and writers behind those characters did a deep amount of thought and research into how kids actually are. steven in particular being based off the creators real life younger brother, so obviously they’d have insight into how to write a kid like steven when they literally knew him. But even then, comparing characters like bart, brendan, calvin lilo and steven together is inherently moot cause a lot of those characters were created for (tho similar) insanely different things. But my long comment is the long way around the fact that i agree that you’re definitely onto something but just wanted to explain why I can see that as well. I like to make stories and watch cartoons and shit and want to be an animator and shit too someday, so stuff like this is something i pick up on an wanted to share, especially since i’m writing a series of my own with a kid character as the star. If this was all too damn long and uninteresting and you or someone else reading chose to ignore, thats perfectly fine lmao, i just wanted to share what insight a guy like me genuinely had.

    Yeah. The original first season of home movies was completely improved. No scripts, they were just given a topic for each scene and made everything up from there. It's one of the reasons improve was popular for the past 2 decades but has become boring becuase no one can be original anymore.😑
