About Dak's cap money. He has never counted for more than 20% of the team's salary cap. You would think that gives you enough money to pay players and bring in free agents. The thing is the Cowboys front office just isn't very good when it comes to contract negotiations. Just a few years ago before Dak's first contract extension, they had 90 million in cap space. The front office decides to franchise tag Dak. That immediately ate 30 million dollars of that cap money and Dak goes on to get injured 5 games into the season. Take this year for example, Dak's cap hit is going to be huge if he isn't extended. Extending him will open up room to sign players this year. The Cowboys could have went out to sign a Derrick Henry if they opened up some space but they didn't. They resigned Zeke on a vet minimum. They don't make moves that build on top of a solid team.
