There is no question that President Biden didn't perform as well. What's disappointing is that the media seems to be only focused on that issue. There were lies after lies told, and we deserve to make decisions based on truth. It is a moderator as well as a network responsibility to fact check in real time. It is not the responsibility of the moderators to fact check or challenge debaters. That is the job of the opponent in the debate. They have an obligation to ensure the candidate answers the question posed and not dodge it if possible.

At least 2, probably 3 of our Supreme Court judges can be bought. Finally, altho' briefly, there are corporate media and loads of partisan media willing to tell Trump's lies and propaganda while Trump threatens to close down or charge in court any media that disagrees with him. That's not free speech. These are but a few of the reasons. Sounds like South Korea or Russia to me. (both of which have leaders Trump idolizes.) Please listen to what people who are saying Trump wants to be a fascist are talking about and think about your choice in Nov. What country do you want your children or grandchildren to live in?

It is hilarious listening to the left now isn't it? Now they are blaming CNN as if they are to blame for Biden having dementia - amazing watching them all melt down when he has displayed this for over a year. What have they been watching?

You're right: Trump is clearly unwell. His speech following the debate, compared to Biden 's epic speech in North Carolina (you should listen to it, it's great), was must another rambling mess that many in his audience clearly weren't up to following. Biden's glitches come in small doses; Trump's glitches flood out of him just as his self-delusional lies do.

@@mattbrown1114 By what authority to do you claim that Biden has dementia? I saw no sign of it when he spoke in Raleigh North Carolina after the debate. I always thought it was Trump, with his constantly irrelevant and increasingly rambling speeches, these notable for the way he frequently trips over his own tongue, who showed signs of there being something wrong.

@@6ftb394 I’m amazed at how many people keep asking this question. No real time fact checking was part of the rules of the debate. That wasn’t CNNs fault, they were hamstrung. If Biden’s team knew he was having this tough of a time they shouldn’t have agreed to the rules of this debate.

That comment was out of context. Trump created that problem, trump let it get worse and the president is the only person in DC that controls and directs the DC national guard.

It is not a moderator job to push back! it was Biden job. It was a debate between Trump and Biden.

The moderator should not express any view as to any opinion a candidate might have, however extreme that opinion might be: that is for the opposing candidate to argue. But surely, no candidate for the Presidency of the USA should be allowed to tell outright lies concerning points of fact without an independent observer making it clear in what ways the candidate was misleading the audience. Throwing all that on Biden, who had his own case to present, was just plain mean.

@@richardsnell2348 according to CNN Trump lied 30 times and Biden lied nine. The moderators would be taking up a lot of the 90 minute debate don’t you think. I don’t want to hear the moderators opinion or push back, you can see that every day on CNN. It is the opponents responsibility to push back. That’s what we want to see not CNN anchors.

So Biden is supposed to spend all of his alloted time trying to explain how Trump is lying? No time to do what debates should do-- reveal plans & policies that allow voters to compare & contrast the candidates? There has to be a better format.

The problem is journalists have been corporatized into being polite to everybody instead of doing their job and calling a person a liar to their because it will upset the corporate donors

CNN lost a lot of loyal viewers tonight. I’m over them. The moderators were a joke. No questions about 1/6 - “what were you doing for 187 minutes, Donald?”

Trying to wrestle in an argument with lies so profuse is tiring to anyone, not just an 81 y/o.

I can't believe CNN didn't call Trump's hand on all those lies.

The only question now is, is it too late to replace Biden or do the democrats just start looking towards 2028. We know they’re not gonna let Biden debate again.
