I’ve been using the blue tape because KZreadr’s have been saying “blue tape”. The thought of checking the price against regular masking tape never entered my mind. DA…….thanks for turning MY brain back on.

Excellent... Very helpful to see and understand what others are doing for workholding

A pin nailer and XFactor tape are my go to solutions. CA glue with tape is a pain in the backside to remove, often the glue seeps through the tape and needs to be sanded off. XFactor does goop up your bits on through cuts so that's where the pin nailer comes in. I haven't yet tried dogs and cam clamps yet though.

When it's an option on the work piece, I use a biscuit jointer and do two per short side 1 on the long depending on the length. Cut some wedges, insert it into the biscuit hole and screw the wedge to the table top. Works amazingly

The xfasten tape came off for me while attaching a maple board to my mdf waste board. I had better luck with hot glue. Moving on to t tracks and clamps.

I'm a house painter the blue tape is for exterior as blue handles uv best. Green can last a day outside but really is mainly for interior and well as the tan which you don't want outside. Pin nailer seems pretty legit.

Listened to your video on my way to work. New to cnc and work holding has been by Biggest hurdle so far. I used pvc pipe cut to short lengths that pop into a grid on my wasteboard. Using simple wedge blocks work surprisingly welI. I also just got some of that xfasten tape yesterday. Next time I will add some T track. Check out broinwood , he gave me the pvc idea.

I wouldn't use any type of steel nail at all. You'll be routering through broken pieces when you surface your spoilboard over and over. If anything, get a Raptor nailgun, and shoot plastic brads. I mostly use double stick tape, and wooden or aluminum clamps, that fix into a t-track. I've also just made myself a set of vacuum pads, that fit into the t-track, and hooked up to a small vacuum pump. The clamping effect with melamine and plywood is INCREDIBLE.

I’ve been doing it that way for years with no issues. And they pull out of the waste board so there’s no worry about it

i've been using carpet tape from the dollar store for a couple years. I don't know about yours but mine doesn't leave a residue. the brand is TCX and costs a dollar lol

I use the pin nailer too, and I do love it. However, and maybe you can tell me if you have the same issue… the pins stay in the MDF after, and when I pull them out a lot of times the pins will break off and leave sharp little nubs behind. How do you solve this? Usually I just use a hammer, but do you have this issue?

I have the same issue. And I’ll flatten them with a hammer and it’s usually good after sanding

When using the double sided tape and doing a through cut how do you keep your bit from gumming up? When it gums up how do you clean the bit?

I do my best to leave an onion skin when I use the double sided tape but if it does get gummed up I use simple green or rubbing alcohol to clean the bit
