I went from CNA, to LVN, to RN to a CRNA. When my parents retired they moved out of the state I grew up in, and left me the house to rent from them. I turned it into a group home for the older special needs ( government funded ). If I could of did it again, I wouldn’t have became a LVN and wasted the money at a private college. Just remember it gets greater later and it’s never too late!

Hello! I just became a CNA and I was looking into the same pathway as you to become a CRNA. My instructor also did the same with opening a group home for special needs individuals. If I did LVN at a public college do you think it would be worth it? I am trying to pick between the option of LVN first or pursuing an ABSN. The only factor that tells me not to do ABSN is the loans (around 50-60k plus tuition and living expense)... I think if I chose an LVN at a public school it would be less, but I'm not sure. What is your opinion on my situation, I would love to get some advice from you.

What if a lpn is only 6k at community college & 9 months (2 semesters). I feel like it’s worth it 🤷🏻‍♀️ idk I wanna be able to make lpn money rather then cna money as I pursue the BSN route. Idk if I wanna be a cna for the next 2.5 years. I’m honestly having trouble make a decision with school but I’ll apply and just go with the program that accepts me. Better than being a sitting duck.

@@Carol-md7zdLVN at a community college is worth it in my opinion. But doing that program at a private college for 20-35K isn’t worth it in my opinion. My LVN program was only 13 months full time, but I still ended up going back to college and working toward my ADN, BSN, then continuing on to get my CRNA ( you earn your MSN - I went to USC for the program ). The only program I was stuck paying for was the damn LVN program, because I wanted to completely get out of bedside nursing at nursing homes. I was a CNA for 13 months, and a LVN for 2.5 years. As soon as I got my ADN I got a job at Kaiser, they paid tuition reimbursement and paid for me to get my BSN. When I decided to open the group home I didn’t realize how much money I could make in 3 years, I touched 350K after taxes and expenses to run the facility. Mind you once I got my ADN I knew I wanted to be the highest paid nurse, so I went ahead and started in the ICU so by the time it came down to applying for USC CRNA program I knew I would get in. I ended up paying for my college tuition upfront, and running my business while I attended school. If you plan of attending CRNA school I strongly suggest taking every class serious from the beginning, I graduated with a 3.9 cumulative GPA.

@@Mariely1If the LPN program is only 9 months and 6K at a community college, then go for it. But from my personal experience, I wouldn’t pay for that program at a private college. As my pops would say, 2+2 isn’t the only way to get to 4 meaning everyone’s journey is different. Tbh, I should have listened to my mom when she advised me as a nurse practitioner to just get my ADN after becoming a CNA because once I do that hospitals/employers will pay for my education. But no not me, I was concerned about looking good, driving a nice car, going out so I decided to become a LVN to make more money and racked up more debt at a private college. When if I’d just been humble, and stuck it out as a CNA and lived rent free with my parents until after I got my ADN I would of been ready to purchase my own home at that time. You live and you learn no regrets.

I’m not sure how this video popped up on my page. But I don’t know anyone for the job title. Some people are not meant to go beyond the CNA level. I’m a physical therapist-DPT and I have worked with plenty of CNA’s or across the United States and I completely respect what you all do. God bless moving forward.

Hey thanks for watching I can’t agree to say some people shouldn’t go past the CNA level because if someone has it in their heart that they want of become a nurse , I think they should have the chance! If it’s not meant to be nursing school will weed them out and life in general would get in the way! But if you have the mental fortitude and work ethic to become a nurse I think you at least deserve a shot! This video was to encourage others to at least try , go to school to become one and don’t waste years away with the aspiration and no action! God bless your journey as well🤞🏽🎯

I'm almost a CNA, but I'm going right into college and not waiting. I'm passing up LPN/LVN and going straight for ASN. ASN/BSN is literally only a $1 on average pay difference for the national average, but the ASN will help me get that rocket pay boost I need. I will then go BSN when things level out, which will probably be within a year of me graduating my ASN, but my ultimate goal is Nurse Practitioner. I want to do Geriatric or Outpatient/Clinical care as they are super stress free and somewhat stable environments. I love stability, and I will always be able to learn no matter what I do.

The plan is set also I think ASN route is a great option, you’ll be saving yourself a lot of time just goin go for it! I’m only doing ABSN be sue the program is so short , if it was any longer I might have just done LPN! Then bridges it over and over again. 💪🏽 the money is there for LPN’s as well believe it or not 🎯

@toastiesquish4808 No disrespect to our nursing homes. They are a great help to people when they need to be in one. However, I hear that working in the hospital system may be a little “easier” and will give you a chance to do more things. You may get to put on heart leads or do a bladder scan and stuff. You’ll definitely take a ton of vitals on various patients in the hospital. You’ll get assigned lots of patients in a hospital too. Half the floor (approximately 15-16) if another CNA is on duty. 30 or 31 or so if you’re the only CNA on the floor but don’t think you do any vitals then. This has been my experience generally. Others may have different. Best!
