CN, UP and Metra at West Chicago / JB Tower, 02.09.13
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Train 1:
Pounding the diamonds at the ex-C&NW triple track, UP's Geneva Subdivision, CN ES44DC #2274 and ex-ATSF/BNSF C40-8 #2798 lead a northbound manifest from Gary and Joliet on the former EJ&E main line, the Leithton Subdivision.
Train 2:
Not far behind the first CN train, a second northbound manifest follows the first north through West Chicago on the "J". CN 5702 and 5762, both SD75Is are on the point. A Southern Pacific autorack brings up the rear.
Train 3:
UP AC4400 #6548 and SD70M #5082 lead a Z-train west on the Geneva Sub. AC44/60 #6889 is the mid-train DPU.
Train 4:
Outbound Metra UP-West Line train #509 hits the CN/EJ&E diamonds at the tower. Tonight's train is 7 cars, rather long for a weekender.
Train 5:
UP SD70M #5105 and a mate are not far behind the outbound Metra train, leading a short manifest westbound.
Train 6:
At the West Chicago Metra station just east of JB Tower, Metra F40PH-2 #169, the 'Village of Oak Park', leads five cars on outbound train #511, including an ex-C&NW Pullman bilevel.

VERY nice! I love the opening shot!
Yeah, I don't know why he didn't blow for the crossings. At West Chicago, the UP is a quiet zone, but the EJ&E is not.

How come it's a quiet zone for UP but not CN
Other videos show trains blowing for the crossing. Quiet zone maybe. love the sounds of the diamonds though.
I agree with you on the trucks. I like the sound of trucks hitting mulitple diamonds like this. Sounds especialy nice when short cars are coupled together in a long block. I call it music to this train lovers ears.
1:26 No way... Great video!
railfans paradise
seems like a hotspot there. No troubles from police?
With no horns on the first train, I thought the CN made it a quite zone [as it should be]. Silly me...
is the JB tower open to the public
