Been watching shooting USA and Jim for well over 20 years now. As a kid I absolutely loved this show on the outdoor channel. As an adult I still follow and watch new episodes on the web. One of the best shooting shows ever produced and the longevity show that.

Absolutely love these "old girls." I have a Swedish Mauser and a Remington '03-A3, and love shooting both.

These matches happen all over the country. I really enjoy shooting this format. It’s challenging and simple. I highly recommend this type of Course of Fire for everyone to enjoy!

Expensive shooting jackets, spotting scopes, hand loads, shooting mats, gloves, electronic ear protection…all the mechanical devices to help add to the score but I rarely ever see anyone follow through with the trigger. Basic marksmanship; and it does make a difference, even moreso with handguns. Especially the bolt action guys. They get so excited to work that action and forget all about how they’re treating the round already in the pipe.

Great coverage, I also love the fact that they guy with the enfield flags the camera man with the muzzle at 3:30 while trying to get and empty shell casing out…..Yeah that’s some great muzzle discipline.

I resisted buying a M1 as long as I could. About 5 years ago I bought one at CMP North Store, and now I "get it"! I have been down to TMP and competed with it there. What a great range! Thank you for the video.

I literally just purchased a Long Branch Enfield No4Mk1 built in 1943 and its in great shape! The bore is so clean i couldnt have asked for a better example! The up side is i paid very little for it and its "not" a wall hanger! Although i have not been able ot get ammo for it yet so i have ot fired it as of yet? :>( i hope to get it out soon? If i can get some ammo for it! Right now its just an expensive paper weight without ammo! LOL lets face it even though, i bought it at a cheaper price, because i was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time and they had 12 of them ,they had not even priced yet, the FFL just purchased. I rolled in and put my name on it, and its my favorite place to shop for guns and shoot! For the condition and history of this rifle i think 500.00 bucks was a steal! There are other places ,selling the same rifles for the same prices or more that are not, in the same nice shape! This Enfield i have could roll into the Competition without worry of accuracy!!! ;>) Now I have, started a 6 rifle collection im working on of WWII Allied/Axis small arms. Long guns though i live in a blue state so much easier to buy long guns vs handguns ,sadly......:>/ But i have a Carcano, A mauser my grandfather captured ,during the war and am now working on an Arisaka and a Nagant then the big boy M1Garand!!! They dont have to be purchased in that order ,and the Garand is my Fav out of all of them and the most expensive! I plsn to look at the CMP program to purchase one but i hate waiting too long for arms to come in! LOL I just hope any M1 can compete in the shoot and it dosnt have ot be purchased threw the program to compete? We will see i may have ot buy two of them then?LOL

To the guy who compared the M1 with the AR. Yes you have greater firepower, and you have to lug the weight of that firepower and combat loadout of ammunition through the woods, jungles, open plains of the worlds combat zones. Trust me when i say the difference is huge.

Thing is, Grandpa didn’t have a 40 pound flak jacket with SAPI plates and all the other crap. We carry more weight now than they ever did, just not in the form of a rifle

@@JT-yz4rj Absolutely little one. Except we did have flak vests and everything else you guys have. Be thankful your not carrying that 25 pound radio as well. The gear you guys have and use actually works. There are generations of troops before you that barely had uniforms to wear. I was RTO for my squad as well as assistant gunner. I carried both the radio and extra batteries as well as M60 ammo. You get bulletproof armor, yea its heavy, but it works. Food still weighs the same, combat equipment loadout hasnt changed as much either. Also thank you for your service :)

MAYBE. I mean, yeah, you can probably enter a match. But you won't be *competitive* with that rig. Not against Swede 96es and K31s.

I didnt know until this video that the CMP program only allowed M1's to compete. Or are there different divisions? Because im sorry but i would think any of those bolt guns would be more accurate then the M1 as its a semi-auto. But i dont have expeirence with any of the rifles as of "yet"!! But i plan too!!!LOL

I'm not an expert on CMP sponsored shoots, but I believe they have several categories where there is some overlap. There is a military rifle match where the old bolt guns from any country are legitimate (so long as they are in some kind of military configuration and not bedded or fitted with target/civilian sights). There are vintage Springfield matches where only the American bolt guns can be used (Krag, M1917, M1903, M1903A3) and I think there are specific Garand Matches limited to the M1 (in .30-'06 or 7.62 NATO). The CMP web page should have the details.

If you have an as-issued military service rifle, there is a category for it. Many of the foreign guns will be grouped against each other, but most of the American designs have their own category. There is also "Unlimited" available for Garands and AR-15s, for those that are accurized or too heavy.

@@kibbeystovall7546 I dont own a KRAG as of yet. But my collection is WWII andcountries that didnt actually take part in the wa, yet built their armies up a nd produced era correct guns for the time. So like some of the later K31's and the Fin Mosin;s are another rifle id like to get although they were involved in the war! Been trying ot find the right deals for a nice example ,cheap enough to use it as a shooter. I dont want wall hangers or worry ,every shot i t ake devalue's the gun yano....lol But ill look into the CMP competitions a bit more after the season here is over. ill have more time ,after all the tourists are gone! LOL thanks
