Anyone who followed that competition with genuine knowledge of technique, repertoire and sound brilliance reacted like the crowd at the announcement of the official laureates in Maison Symphonique at the onset of the final night: only SooBeen Lee the astounding uniquely gifted South Corean violinist could have taken away the first prize crown from the head of RusLAN . She got a scandalous third prize and immediately the crowd furiously shouted insults at the jury...Then came a dubious buffer second prize which is here simply superfluous to discuss, and the final blow occurred when RusLAN got NOTHING . Time will unmask this sad scenario that, whence genuinely won renewal of contracts will give the true color of theat sad day, in falling numbers, eventually discredit the first prize as a prize received under the auspices of much more than sole doubtful "judgement". RusLAn studied in Moscow, Russia? Tell me more, thanks.

Everything you said i agree 100% the decision of the prize winners was politically motivated how tf did Ruslan Talas not place in the top 3 and SooBeen not win 1st prize?!!!!! Shame on the jury

Performance brillante et exceptionnelle, comme le demande ce concerto si difficile techniquement! Bravo Ruslan! Excellent support par l’OSM et Raphaël Payare. Heureusement que les juges ne vont pas décider en se basant sur la piètre qualité de la prise de vue: ça aurait mérité un meilleur caméraman et cadreur!!

Amazing violinist, but terrible conductor...

I’m listening to your wonderful performance, Ruslan! Your technical mastery of the violin shows, especially in your previous rounds. Playing those Paganini licks is an extremely difficult task and even more so at a competition! But, I don’t think this was your best performance. There were moments of changing the tempo and being out of sync with the orchestra. I also noticed quite a few mistakes with intonation, tone, dynamics, etc., especially in the third movement. My ideal version of this is Augustine Hadelich’s Paganini performance. He’s completely with the orchestra and listens to them constantly. On top of that, he’s crystal clear with the technical aspects, makes beautiful and luscious colors with it too. I know you have a lot of support from your fans, and you played this difficult concerto well, but I cannot agree that you were deserving of a prize. That being said, being a laureate in this competition is something that only a select few violinists in the world can boast about. I do think that you’re qualified to perform in the Queen Elizabeth competition, so I hope to see you in that monstrous competition too! Cheers Ruslan!
