A look back at the last 12 months and some future industry trends from CMF CEO Dr P Murrell FICME.
The CMF Net Zero panel published its roadmap to a globally competitive net zero UK foundry industry, responded to a number of UK Government consultations and held the first Net Zero Member Forum.
Several foundries were welcomed into CMF membership as well as industry suppliers and CMF continued to facilitate innovation and sustainability in the industry and supported ICME with training and professional development programmes and various initiatives to help promote careers in casting including a new VR 360 foundry tour.
Members were reminded that they can attend any of the CMF regional and sector meetings - attendance at some meetings had been low during 2023, reducing the benefit for those attending. The 2024 programme would include meetings in different regions around the UK as well as meetings for the light alloy, investment casting and steel sectors.
The CMF team and members would continue to work to create a more competitive and sustainable UK foundry and castings industry.
