If a guy barters a 12 fight deal with points on the back end and by fight 10 he's not drawing he would still get points on the undercard.* Point is a guy like Overeem could definitely be getting a buyrate cut. *these are obviously hypothetical numbers and that should he obvious but its the internet and no one understand varience or nuance so DISCLAIMER.

Martina then said simply, that money Isn't there for me. If Chris Everett didn't exist I still wouldn't have that..... She actually didn't say the second part, but everyone, including the reporter, understood exactly what she meant and she was right. The problem is the UFC is supposed to be a legitimate fighting promotion of the sport of MMA. Sports by nature are supposed to a be a true meritocracy. Paying a WWE ballerina more the pound for pound best fighter on the planet at the time shits all over that, and while profitable in the short term, it hurts the UFCs credibility in the long run. Anyone who has followed this sport for any amount of time knew Phil Brooks was going to fail miserably. Between nonsense like Punk and The UFC allowing JBJ to duck Tom Aspinall and not unify the belt, the promotion is becoming a bit of a joke

That was match was great, he sold and sold and sold and sold and so did John Cena. As dominant as he was, the man was headlining fight nights on free TV. I'd be sour too if I was in DJ's shoes and saw a famous guy walk in and suck all the air out of the room. Don’t take that away from DJ. It’s all he really has to cling too. Guys want more but don’t even understand the business. Without entertainment draws the talented guys wouldn’t get any viewers. That’s why boxers have 30 fights in free entry shows before their big pay day. Waiting for an undercard of a bigger name in media. Not an undercard of a more talented fighter. Just a bigger draw. Love DJ. But he didn’t do a great job selling fights. Could be the goat too. Just was more concerned being the nice guy & being real instead of putting on a show in the media. His old division is wide open in UFC right now. Instead of building a fight & trash talking a little bit. Trying to get resigned & right into a title fight. He’s trying to make an enemy. Imagine doubling down but still wanting that opportunity. It’s self sabotage.

You all claim its an easy fight but Stipe and Jones are closer in age than Tom and Jones so by your own logic Tom wants an easy fight against Jones rather than going against the new generation that he'd have to fight as champ. Its a very bad look for him to not be taking big fights right now because he'll do the same with the belt. Pretty much every Heavyweight in the top 5 has had a fight now so Tom cant fight until the Fall. He sat out an entire year after winning the belt, how does that build his brand and audience. If he's not willing to fight the next in line, he should vacate the belt, and not be fighting a man who is past his prime and inactive. I'd agree with your logic if Tom was calling out old inactive fighters, but he's simply not. He's calling out the Heavyweight Champ. If you're too old to hold that belt, then you should either retire, or fight the top guys till someone takes it from you. Prime Stipe would be an awesome fight. Old marble mouth Stipe? Not so much.
