Angel, you are a great guy to do a favor this huge for a somebody. In my book, unless it's a payback, favors this big require the friend to to work along side me and get his hands dirty even if they lack skills. That way, they won't take you for granted and ask too often. I learned a lot from your rope technique. I always learn something watching your videos. Thank you much.

I appreciate how you show us everything. I know it's not easy. A lot of car channels just say how things are done. You actually show us everything. I just changed mine out on the 27th. I have a 1993 d21 2.4L. Bought it last summer. I've been slowly fixing everything. 2 months ago I bought a used transmission. It was junk. I found d out after I I stalled it. I then bought a rebuilt one. My old truck is running nice with a good transmission. This last time I got it out in a hour and 27 minutes. The worst part is mating the trans and engine also the top starter bolt. I dislike the top starter bolt. I'm a powesport tech and I did this job on my back but with access to all my tools at the dealership I work at. Nice job sir. I did watch this video a few times before I started the job.

I think the new thrust bearing was the correct one. You need to press the old bearing off the old thrust sleeve, and press the new bearing onto the old thrust sleeve. A lot of old cars were like this, you didn't get the whole new thrust sleeve and bearing as a complete unit like they are on new cars👍🇦🇺

I think a transmission lack will work much better cause you can strap the transmission to the jack,

No the transmission jack isn't any better than a floor jack. I have one and in order to remove and then replace the transmission, it has to be rotated as this video clearly shows. I struggled all afternoon trying to replace trans with a trans jack and even got a friend to help. Couldn't rotate it easily on floor jack. Next day, went to the ropes and did it by myself!

No flywheel resurfacing and not change the oil retainer... Specially on that leaky boy... Not a hate comment. In such demanding job, it's a must to change the crankshaft retainer. Hope it doesn't leak.

I commend you Angel doing it with just a floor jack and jack stands without the vehicle lift. I did my truck and it was a pill esp. in a small garage.

The flywheel needs to be resurface and a new trowbearing needs to be installed is what I think the is a lot of work God bless angel

been there many times. using a lift will definitely make the jobs much quicker and saves your back/arms muscles and a whole lot less cursing as well. lol

thanks so much for the great, step by step video. I followed it and replaced my clutch on a 1985 720 pickup. But when I got it all together, the clutch worked great but another problem arose. The sensor light on the dash stays on when I start the truck. What are the 2 solenoids or switches located on the transmission for? I know one is for reverse and the back up lights. But what is the other one for? Could it be giving me the signal that a sensor needs attention?

I would have just did the clutch job while the transmission hanging there at that point.

I have a 1986 Nissan d21 truck but since I have owned it the last 20 years I have never had to change the clutch. However, that time may be coming. Seems like a lot of work

How many miles? I have a Tacoma right now has 230k and still on original clutch

@@PatricioGarcia1973 well, the odometer broke at 452,000 miles. I’m not the original owner so probably sometime before 2003 before I took ownership of it it probably did have a clutch job. Which is probably a good guess

Lowering a transmission box takes a lot of work and doing it alone is double...it is necessary to take advantage and change the engine seal as long as it has been installed for a while.

yes I was thinking that too. When I did mine, I had so much dark oil in the bell housing, I decided to pull flywheel and replace rear main seal on engine. It was really not hard to do.

My friend is in the same boat, It would be a no lift repair. What labor should you charge? Flag time or accrued hours?

What Gear oil did you use???

Transmission jack would have saved you all this hustle.

Your best bet is to try to source the manual online or an English version from Japan or the UK. They never sold the Alphard/Granvia in the USA, sadly.
