Cluster C Personality Disorders (Psychiatry) - USMLE Step 1

Hey Everyone!
Thank you for watching our video about medical school! If you enjoyed our medical school videos, please leave a comment below, like our videos, and please SUBSCRIBE to the channel!
About Us:
Mad Medicine was started to talk about many aspects of medicine, from medical school and premed, to nursing, PA, NP and much, much more. On our channel, we sit down and talk about relevant medical topics, issues that many medical professionals are facing, ways to be successful through your education and career, and (again) much, much more.
We started this channel as medical students in medical school in order to help premeds get into the medical schools of their choice. Whether you want to got to medical school in Harvard, or to a local medical school, we try to provide you with the best video content that will help you achieve your goal. Our medical school trips to become a medical student have to pertain to questions such as, "Do you need research for medical school?", "Is Clinical Experience required for medical school" and much much more. Along with medical school tips and tricks, we also plan to provide you guys with videos that have to do with medical school requirements, medical school rankings, how to be a medical student, as well as fun (yet informative) sessions. Who knows, maybe we will even do medical school and medical student vlogs one day!
We are always looking for ways to grow our channel so if you ever have any ideas or want us to talk about specific topics, or heck, even if you have a guest you want us to talk to, leave a comment below! Thank you for the support!

For OCPD think about Sheldon from the Big Bang Theory. He is: 1. Preoccupied with details rules, order, organization 2. excessively devoted to work 3. unable to discard worn-out or worthless objects 4. reluctant to delegate tasks because he doesn't think they can do the job right 5. Doesn't like to spend money and would rather save it 6. Shows rigidity and stubbornness ("How about tacos today?" "But we ALWAYS have fried chicken on sundays, ALWAYS"

Unfortunately, you missed the main characteristic of OCPD. The systematic way of thinking isn't useful, or it isn't a disorder. In OCPD, the rigidity and minutiousness are detrimental to achieving goals

@@rinnypoo__7958 Correct. When he got off script and started diagnosing medical students, he was simply wrong. There is a huge difference between traits and a disorder.

I believe perfectionism ruins everything, it creates nothing but chaos. That's why a lot of ppl are unhappy because how flawed and messed up we are. We do not want to be fixed, but understood. That's why I hate going to the doctors, lol 😂 (Sorry for the rant!)

i have OCPD and this really pissed me off. "i probably have OCPD and everyone watching this does too" ??? no that's not how this works! the reason i was diagnosed with this as a personality DISORDER is because it causes dysfunction and distress in my daily life. i don't like living like this. i get that this is a quick overview of the disorders, but if you look further into OCPD you'll find the preoccupation with rules and morality that have crippled me and the impaired ability to work with others in a group that can be so damaging to a person's professional life. the comments on OCPD in this video are very similar to somebody saying that a manic episode is good because the person is productive, totally ignoring the damage the lack of sleep is doing to the person's body and the social and physical harm that can come from them engaging in high risk behaviors

I don't have OCPD but I have a friend who suffers from it and has spoke on her experience and her form of the disorder has absolutely NOTHING to do with this persons diagnosis and actually stems more from a religious perspective and that if they don't touch every table top they walk past that god will punish them in some way. There's more to it but OCPD isn't just "wee haha things need to be clean!!!"

hi, i think ur confusing OCPD for a type A personality. i know someone with suspected OCPD and their obsession with perfection and order sometimes causes them to halt a task because they cant do it and spiral into a breakdown and its not nice to watch. its nothing like what u described, its not motivational its pretty crippling actually and ngl it kinda offended me how you described a personality DISORDER as a “good thing” because thats not true at all. premed/med students dont have a PERSONALITY DISORDER just because they are REQUIRED to be extremely knowledgeable, ordered perfectionists. preoccupation with control can cause eating disorders, preoccupation w perfection can cause self harming and suicidal thoughts, preoccupation w order can cause erratic behaviour .... i dont think you know what youre talking about very well at all.....

i know!! this bothered me so much. personality disorders are really serious and often times crippling. he also missed the big reason why it’s a personality disorder and the relationship issues people with OCPD have.

One thing that threw me off about their credibility as a mental health professional too is he diagnosed Logan Paul with histrionic personality disorder and said he was gonna get caught up in a sex crime one day and also diagnosed Kanye as a narcissist bc he calls himself God like ??? this dude rly knows nothing besides internet stereotypes

I really question the credibility of this persons work and honestly am shocked people going to school for this kind of stuff aren't openly questioning it as well. 1. In their Cluster B video they outwardly diagnose real people (Logan Paul and Kanye specifically) based on their public personalities, when it's generally stated in the Psychiatric/Therapist profession to not randomly diagnose people bc they aren't your patient and it's just not your business unless they're paying you to, you don't know them on a personal level to make that call and 2. the OCPD Description is just completely off and just the stereotype for OCPD

Maybe I missed it, but what exactly are this guy’s credentials? These videos are not good, very generalized, at times offensive. To individuals that have any of the cluster A, B or C traits and have watched these videos, as a LICENSED and credentialed mental health professional, this guy is a joke.

I'm not licensed but I love just doing basic research on mental health and in his Cluster B video I really started to question his credentials when he was just diagnosing random celebrities with personality disorders bc of their public behaviors (like saying Kanye has NPD)

OCPD is a very serious disorder. this guy really doesnt explain it well at all. he’s just wrong actually. people with OCPD are absolutely obsessed with perfection. they don’t finish tasks faster, they actually spend hours on something that would take someone else half an hour. they do things over and over again, convinced it wasn’t perfect the first time. it’s a crippling disorder. it is NOT helpful. if they can’t make something perfect, then they just don’t do it. a lot of people with OCPD do poorly in school because they don’t do many of their assignments. they’re totally incapable of half assing it, and making everything perfect would take forever. it’s also a lot more than this. they have high expectations for other people as well as themselves, which is why it’s a personality disorder. most personality disorders make it very difficult for a person to have healthy relationships with other people. in the case of OCPD, they have very high expectations for their friends and unflinching moral standards. they get very very bothered by little things, like maybe someone tapping their foot, because to them it’s morally deplorable. it is NOT useful. it is a crippling illness.
