It’s normal. The action of this keyboard uses a lot of grease which becomes sticky sometimes as the viscosity changes. It does it especially when new. Mine was doing it for like 6 months. Now 1 year later it hasn’t done it once. Just play it and don’t worry about it.

@@clcaeduz fp10 has the feel of a grand piano, which for me is heavier in action so if ur not used to it maybe try something else😁

My p45 does this and you can hear it when listening back to a recording. Is this normal for the lower end keyboard and does this go away with the higher end keyboards?

I thought this was due to the lack of grease? At least that's what I read on some forums

With most digital pianos it takes time for the keys to “settle” my digital piano that I primarily use at home clunks like that too. I recently purchased a FP-30X and the mechanics on these Roland keyboards simulate a concert/baby grand piano keyboard. If you were to mute all the strings on a grand piano you’d hear so many squeaks and clunks coming from the keyboard.

I’ve recently bought a Roland FP-E50 with the same action and this noise has started while learning some very fast, loud and repetitive sections in Rach 2. I’m not sure how advanced a player you are but this is not just a grease problem as doing fast repetitive notes on the black keys now cause the keys to not bounce back correctly and almost “skip” a beat as if something is loose. It’s not a problem at all when you’re casually playing slower, less aggressive pieces. It pretty much is masked then. But I’m wondering if anyone else knows what I’m talking about? The clicky problem on the black keys comes with all the PHA-4 actions after a few mf moments played. But it’s actually quite easily resolved by doing exactly what is causing the other problem mentioned above. Hit that black note as hard and fast as you can repetitively and that click will go quite quickly. Thirdly I have a plasticky click on some of the white keys that are slowly making its way from key to key as I play more. It’s not the same “stuck grease” sound as the black keys and it’s intermittent going away after playing the note a few times. But it starts when I don’t play the keys for a while and then when I play them gently it’s like a saliva sound when you open your mouth slowly 😂 Way to try describe sounds here but it’s really annoying for an intimate soft moment. But yes, I’m wondering if I should just ignore it and hope like hell it improves over time because everyone seems to have some sort of clicky key issue. So it can’t be an isolated problem. Possibly a manufacturing flaw 🤔

If you took muted the strings on an acoustic piano they would make a lot of thumping noises. All digital pianos that I've played make a similar sound - some worse than others. That Roland actually sounds pretty quiet to me.

The keys are user serviceable. If you can work on your own computer or a vehicle, you can remove the keys and lubricate them. My sources say what is used is cup grease. There are 88 keys, of course, which makes it a tedious job. Maybe there is a better-quality synthetic grease available. I haven't finished my research yet.

Spend more time practicing until you get the most out of the instrument and then get yourself a pro level piano. that's what you get in this price range.

@@Majisyani really dont think its normal why would all the other keys be nice and smooth and silent and perfect. The first fp e50 i got got progressively worse, at first it was only 1 key doing that noise then the more i played, several other keys started doing it, i then asked for a replacement, right out the box before even turning it on i tested every key and noticed one key was doing the same thing, i still have that piano now but thinking of exchanging it for a yamaha 515 but the sounds on the roland are just sooooo much better
