Clun Castle on The Great Western railtour

10th and 11th May 2024 saw Vintage Trains run Clun Castle on a mostly solo tour from London Paddington to Plymouth and back as a 60th anniversary celebration of the first running of the railtour.
Return journey was not without drama, getting stuck up Hemerdon bank and requiring assistance from the class 47 back up loco. It was 30 minutes late and made up the time to be 5 minutes early at Bristol. It fully redeemed itself with an impressive solo non-stop run from Bristol to London Paddington.
