I worked on a horse breeding farm for close to a decade, she had a horse she bought as a retired show mare and the owners purposely trimmed all 4 down to 2/3 as bug as normal for an average quarter, took us like 3 years to straighten them out

Watching you hammer the anvil before shaping the shoe. Being a city woman, I don't know the ins and outs of using an anvil. This may be a stupid question. Why do they hit the anvil with the hammer before they shape the horseshoe?

It mainly sets a rhythm for the smith, but can also help gauge power in the swing and make sure the hammer is flat by feeling the rebound

Probably a dumb question but, if they step on a nail it would most likely cause an abscess that then requires a ton of cutting & removal of the hoof with a rubber block on part of the hoof while the damaged part heals. Why doesn't the nails used by the shoe cause the same problem?

The internal foot is bound together and is forcing the internal foot up and out of the back end of the hoof. You can clearly see this from the angle of the tubules and the hairline. You can also see that the periople is binding the heels in the contracted position. The heels need to be released. I have rehabbed club hooves and this type of hoof trim and shoe is not the way to achieve a rehabbed, functional and healthy hoof.

Can this issue ever be permanently fixed? I've heard there is a misalignment of the tendons with this condition and those individuals are usually never mountable.
