Closet Essentials - How to Build Your Wardrobe With Basics

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In last week's vlog, I mentioned that you need great basics to build a closet you love. So here they are! These are foundation pieces that help create classic, on point looks on the daily. I believe in investing in well-made items that will never go out of style, but a lot of these items can be found second hand. Enjoy!

    Thanks for all the great information you provide about curating pieces that provide wardrobe options, slow fashion, sustainability, etc. Is it ok to wear, for example, a blazer with a skirt or pants of a different fabric type, texture or sheen, even if they’re all black? I appreciate the visuals in your video. You don't just talk but show.... I just wish that someone would do a video about basics that aren't always black, white or even grey! For instance, I wear navy instead of black... my one pair of trousers are brown, and I pair them with pink and cream... can we have a basic wardrobe with more basic colours? What's the best way to substitute? Thanks...

  • @AlyssaBeltempo

    @AlyssaBeltempo

    6 жыл бұрын

    Beth Brown hi Beth! This is such a good point - it would be fun to incorporate colour or print. I do think it's a good idea to have a solid base of neutrals so you can add colour once you've got your foundation. But colour is Def something I'll keep in mind for my Spring basics video! thanks for watching! xx

  • @chickenleg002

    For what it’s worth your neutrals ought to be colors that make you look gorgeous. And that might not be black. I also prefer navy, though I have had trouble finding it lately. Alyssa looks AMAZING in black, if I wear black near my face I need to allow more time for makeup. When you hear black try thinking ‘my dark neutral’, and fr white think ‘my light neutral’ and if you really want to see wardrobes broken out in lots of different colors try the Vivienne Files website.

    Hi Aylessa, I absolutely love your style and taste in clothes. I love all the pieces you showed. What do you do if you're struggling with sizing? All the pieces you mentioned are basics but I find some of the looks are difficult for me to pull off. I love the idea of a penicillin skirt or even motto jackets to give you're outfits more edge. But sometimes they just don't look right. Any tips?

  • @AlyssaBeltempo

    @AlyssaBeltempo

    5 жыл бұрын

    hey there! Apologies for the delay! It's tough to say without seeing you, but a lot of times these basics simply depend on fit and tailoring ... for example the hemline of a pencil skirt will be more flattering on different body types, or the cut of a moto jacket as well. I do find for moto jackets the ones that have a more fitted waist tend to look best on most as it either accentuates or adds a flattering curve ... I hope this helps a bit:) And so appreciate you watching!

  • @AlyssaBeltempo

    Marie B. Hi Marie! Thanks for watching! I would recommend a nicely fitted jacket (make sure there are darts at the back!) That comes in at the waist to accentuate the smallest part of your torso and ends above the widest part of your hips - another alternative would be a denim blazer - harder to find but very form fitting and great for your body type. Hope it helps and thanks for the q! xx

  • @AlyssaBeltempo

    @AlyssaBeltempo

    6 жыл бұрын

    Emilia Arrington hi Emilia! Great question - if you can get away with it I would say go braless with the black cami but if you need to wear one I do use a strapless - it’s Calvin Klein and actually stays up! I’m impressed with it!The other option is to wear a bandeau underneath if you’re ok with more of a street style look. I find bandeaus stay up a bit better. Finally, I would find a beautiful feminine bra with details that you don’t mind showing and wearing under the cami - nothing wrong with showing off a beautiful strap or tasteful detail imo :) hope that helps & thanks so much for watching xox

    Strassberger Travel so sorry for the delayed reply! It’s a tough question because it depends on the rest of your body type ... I think an important piece is knowing what parts you want to camouflage but also want to highlight - small waist? Beautiful shoulders? To create height, wearing longer cardis or shirts open, but so important to know where you want to draw attention to - does this start you in the right direction? Thanks for watching! xx
