Every time I watch a video of you I think “omg, whatever she likes to try, she tries, she is never afraid of starting new things like KZread, Art Shop, Patreon, Twitch” and you Sau you need to learn it. I think you are able to do way more than you think you can!

Omg this is exactly what I was thinking watching this.😮 Whenever she said she wants to try something she did it. And I admire that so much because I wish I was more like that. Gabi you got this! You already achieved so much. You have it in you already. Going to the post office can be scary. I was scared too but after a while you realize it's not so bad. Maybe try going with a friend the first time you go so it won't feel so scary.

My therapist said that when you start getting into that mindset of "should have," it puts expectations for no reason and diminishes what you do have. Trying to remove it from your vocabulary actually helps rewire your brain into giving yourself more grace. She also said to give yourself credit for the small things you do accomplish and giving yourself small victories to build back up your confidence so that you will be able to tackle the bigger issues. If today all you did was declutter your wardrobe, that's a huge thing. But if for you that task was only a level 2 anxiety while the post office is a 5, then you do a bunch of 1s and 2s to build up your momentum and confidence to tackle the 5 at sometime. But acknowledging your ability to complete the 1s and 2s, even if you can't get to the 5s is what helps you be happier in the here and now, because you acknowledge success based on the entire scale instead of getting all the big tasks done. Personally, I try to set my week up with a bunch of 1-3 anxiety tasks and then add one 5 and just go for it on a day where I'm feeling able to. Anyway, if none of that works, you trying is a great step 💕

Here's my mantra anytime I get stock on perfectionism and sense that I'm spiraling and it helps: "done is better than perfect". Then I take a couple of deep breaths (box breathing is great) and "chuck it in my f*ck it bucket"

I am three months late with this advice but something that helps me be satisfied in my current spot in life is looking at the progress I’ve made in different areas and just being grateful for them. Like I was living with my grandmother (which I’m so blessed to have been able to) and I moved in with a roommate recently which was a great move for me. It put me in a city I wanted to live in and gave me some freedom I needed. When I find myself wishing I was further along in school or making more money I remind myself “2 months ago you were living with your grandmother and now you live in a cute apartment with a good friend in a good city” and I just ruminate on that gratitude. It is also kind of a being present thing.

Get rid of the socks!! I’m proud of you! I’ve held onto socks with holes because I don’t like being wasteful, but treat yourself! And, Subset (formerly Knickey) has a takeback program so you can recycle socks, tights, bras, and underwear without feeling bad anymore. Also super helpful for all my old dance tights lol

I have been in a depressive slump for pretty much all of 2023, and I’m over it, but I’m having a hard time coming out of it. This video gave me some actionable steps to try. So thanks! I hope we all get out of our slumps this coming year and live our best lives. I love your style, btw!

Don't feel bad about being afraid of the post office!!! Brains are weird sometimes. I'm 31 and I literally feel so anxious about walking to the grocery store that's literally five minutes away alone. So my therapist and I are working on me walking there and buying myself a little treat at least once a week. Maybe when you go to the post office, buy yourself some cute stamps! Or a cute lil greeting card. Or even just try having a fun conversation with the postal service worker. Walking to the grocery store and chatting with the cashiers and trying a new fruit/chocolate bar/juice has helped my self esteem and confidence so much. You can do it!!!!!

for the “never enough” mindset , i struggle with it so so much as an artist and i think it’s the inner critique that never turns off but ive found it so helpful to reassure that part of my brain. remind myself that my journey is my own and my timeline is for me only so it’s okay if not everything is always perfect, but as long as i am showing up as my best self that is enough

I am a 19 year old girl and I don't want to bash other young girls but it is so refreshing to see a KZreadr/influencer who is ACTUALLY a good influence and is conscious about the environment and consumerism. Love your videos Gabi! I think anytime you choose to take action in bettering your life instead of scrolling or watching tv is a win. I think life is hard and tiring a lot of the time but investing in yourself instead of just being a good little worker bee is really powerful and deserves celebrating. It’s super scary to try and pursue your own thing that’s why most people never do and remain “shadow artists” as Julia would say 😉 But every time you devote any amount of time to your dream, by drawing or learning about small business or productivity and mindset even if it turns out to be a dead end was you actively working to achieve an idea that you had in your head. I have personally found that being kinder to myself has helped me try a lot more things. To expect to be great at something your first time is kinda crazy when you think about it so I definitely think tiny steps forward are worth celebrating 🙂 I also loved the book Atomic Habits by James Clear which talks about how those tiny steps or changes can give you major results. Hope that helped in some way!

Advice for the "how to be satisfied" when you feel like you're not doing enough or not where you want to be: I struggled with this A LOT when I was working towards my dream dance job. I never felt like I was making enough progress each day to actually get closer to my goal. My husband told me (he doesn't even remember where he heard it) that each and every minute of effort is worth something. Like when I was practicing my pirouettes and I wasn't feeling more solid or confident, I reminded myself that it's ok because I still put in the time to work on them that day. And each of those days of many minor (and not clearly noticeable) progress eventually added up to something...when I eventually got the job! Slow progress is still progress! This is also a great reminder for myself because I'm going back to school after 10 years out of college 😳 PS I feel like we are so similar - I'm a dancer as well and I love making art. I'm going back to school for graphic design!

I understand the never enough mentality but personally I am satisfied with all the imperfections of life, if they werent there the true beauty of things wouldn't shine as much. Every thing that you do is amazing, simply because you did it. Life needs to be lived and I think that instead on focusing on what to avoid its way better to point out things that you enjoy and work off them. For example lets say you made a video where you dont like the intro but like your outfit, you can always make another video with a nice outfit which is gonna make u more confident and then make everything better. The thing is to focus more on what makes you feel good and let go off things that bothers u because in the end you choose what gets to you mentally

Im also working on being content to reduce my anxiety. Im currently reading Radically Content by Jaime Varon. I think it has some concrete steps but overall its going to take a long time to overcome the perfectionist mentality.

My thing is what do you do if someone you care about gives you clothing that's not to your liking?👀🤣I only wear certain colors because not every color goes with my complexion. I like wearing things that my skin and eye color pop 🙃

This might not be the advice you want. I practice forcing myself to be in uncomfortable situations until I get comfortable. I call this tactic “being comfortable with uncomfortableness.” For your situation, you might be able to force yourself to accept that you are not satisfy with what you create. Over time, you would get used to the feeling and cope with it naturally. Hope 2024 will be a good year for you!

5:23 My coworker had said something to me that absolutely changed my mind about how I think of my day to day life. On days where you don’t feel like you’re allowed to be happy or do things that you actually want to do, think of it as how you would want to treat your best friend? For eg: “would I make my best friend clean all day?” Literally no ffs lmao I don’t know why it’s so hard to find a balance.

The feeling you’re describing is capitalism. Under capitalism, your productivity is directly tied to your worth and value. It’s also heavily rooted in ableism, we could go into how women feel if harder than men because of misogynistic societal tendencies, but at its core it’s a byproduct of capital. The best thing for you and your community is to unlearn that ish.
