    From past experience machining aluminum in the aircraft industry I know it will change dimension considerably if it gets very cold. So just chill the insert and drop it in and when it comes back up to temperature it will fit perfectly without ever having to press it in.

    Fantastic job. I would expect even non boosted Subarus could benefit. My Subaru had so many head gasket problems from open deck cylinder movement. No headgasket version ever fixed the problem. We tried them all. I believe that this would solve the problem.

    I just wanna say I myself have bought parts from these amazing guys, and the customer service is second to none, when I order a part it’s not only packaged that day, but you also get a tracking number that day! I live in Texas and I’ve received my parts in 3 days!! These guys are awesome!

    PREACH!!!! That’s what happened to my Altima, the gasket warped because it was a open deck block, I’m so surprised that not that many people connect the dots to the reliability

    What's the maximum boost level you can put through a semi closed block before it cracks?

  • @JagerRacing

    @JagerRacing

    2 жыл бұрын

    Well I put over 40 psi and it didn’t, I think some drag guys are in the 50s. The real issue becomes keeping the heads bolted up and the rods oiled.

  • @christopheredwards357

    @@JagerRacing thanks for your response. Putting 40 psi or 2.7bar of boost pressure through, makes me think its got nothing to do with boost pressure causes the cracking. If it can handle that massive amount. Could it just be detonation and or heat cycles (not warming up properly)? Where the cylinder walls have a shock from cold to hot too fast? My engine builder won't put more than 1.6 bar through a semi closed deck or 400hp (crank). As he believes it's to do with boost pressure. 👍

    Bobby John the 1/2 head studs that Outfront has are your best bet in your defense against the blown head gaskets. We have had our best success with them and the JE Pro Seal head Gaskets.

    Oh wow. $895 is not bad. Well I definately got a good set of case halves. I just posted a vid of my shortblock on my channel if you want to check it out. I was going to send it off to John at Costa Mesa R&D to get his custom sleeves put in but I might actually go this route. Im planning on running outfront motorsports headstuds anyways. By the way, ive been following your channel and the time attack car. Baddass! I know you probably have it all sorted out already but Im about to do a video series on converting a STI to EPAS and im wondering if you might be interested in converting the time attack car? Good luck this season bud.

    Definitely would be worth a look you might get lucky if you mention the video and they might be able to give you a little discount. We are going to have a segment all about headstuds and the experiences that Outfront and Yimisport have had and what they have done to come up with the best solution. I know of others that have merged to other power steering systems and I will say if it is lighter and works to the same degree its always an option.

  • @jdmcommute

    Awesome. I will mention your video for sure. Its funny that you brought up the functionality and weight of the EPAS vs the OEM Subaru PS because I actually have it planned to weigh everything as Im converting it and compare the two with cost benefit analysis. Plus I was going to build my own bread board controller box along with a potentiometer for the supply voltage to the EPAS but I found a guy who already makes it and its cheap! So basically I will be able to adjust the amount of "assist" the EPAS gives which is excellent for STi's with wider tires and will allow a fine tuning of steering feedback and control as the track temp heats up and the tires get stickier, which you know puts more demand on the PS. With this adjustable EPAS conversion, its a simple turn of a knob to allow more assist and no more parasitic drag from the PS pump. When I finally get my other whiteline bushings in I will start on the conversion. Im all about having my channel up to help others, so especially if I can help you guys out to put your Subaru in the winners circle Im all in. Thank you Jager Racing and Yimisport for your input.

  • @toothpik00

    @toothpik00

    +TheBlapman I'm sure you could, but there would be little reason to do it unless you were going to turbo that engine. Even still, you would need a lot of boost going in before you'd need to close the deck, and to do THAT you'd need to drop the compression of the EJ25. I have the same engine in my Gen 3 Legacy and I've spent a long time looking into turboing it as well. I think at the end of the day, buying something like an EJ205 and doing a conversion would be cheaper as most Subaru engines will just bolt up to any Subaru engine bay and transmission. Now, closing the deck of an EJ205 would be a viable option if these guys offer it :)
